FyneHand is mandated to hire for the role of Business Unit Head.
Our client, a leading Renewable Energy Equipment Manufacturing (Solar Energy / Clean Energy) organization, is looking for a Business Unit Head. The position will be based in Delhi and will involve frequent travel to project sites.
Role overview: Lead the end-to-end Solar IPP business, driving project origination, development, financing, execution, asset management, and commercial performance. The role is accountable for achieving growth, profitability, and long-term value creation across the renewable energy portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Strategy
- Develop and execute the Solar IPP growth strategy
- Identify opportunities in utility-scale solar, hybrid, wind-solar, and BESS
- Build a strong pipeline through government and private sector opportunities
2. Project Development
- Lead land acquisition, permitting, environmental clearances, and regulatory approvals
- Secure PPAs with agencies such as SECI, NTPC, state DISCOMs, and C&I customers
- Drive bid strategy and participation in renewable energy tender
3. Commercial & Financial Leadership
- Own the P&L of the Solar IPP business
- Lead project financing with banks, NBFCs, infrastructure funds, and investors
- Optimize project IRR, EBITDA, and cash flows
- Oversee financial modelling, project valuation, and investment decisions
4. Project Execution
- Ensure timely execution from Notice to Proceed through commissioning
- Manage EPC contractors, OEMs, consultants, and suppliers
- Monitor cost, quality, HSE, and schedule performance
5. Operations & Asset Management
- Maximize plant availability and energy generation
- Improve CUF/PLF and operational efficiency
- Lead O&M strategy and lifecycle asset management
6. Stakeholder Management
- Build relationships with regulators, government agencies, investors, lenders, and strategic partners
- Represent the company in industry forums and renewable energy associations
7. Leadership
- Build and lead multidisciplinary teams across Business Development, Project Development, Engineering, EPC, Finance, Legal, and Asset Management
- Develop succession planning and a high-performance culture
Qualifications & Experience
- B.E./B.Tech (Electrical/Mechanical/Civil)
- MBA preferred
- 18 - 25 years of experience in renewable energy, with at least 8 - 10 years in senior leadership
- Demonstrated success in developing and operating large-scale Solar IPP portfolios
