Role Description The Creo Design Engineer (Heavy Fabrication & Welding) will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical components and assemblies related to heavy fabrication and welded structures using Creo and other CAD tools. Day-to-day tasks include creating detailed 3D models and drawings, preparing fabrication and welding layouts, performing design reviews, and ensuring designs meet functional, safety, and manufacturability requirements. The role will collaborate closely with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to resolve design issues, optimize material usage, and support continuous improvement on the shop floor. The engineer will also maintain design documentation, adhere to industry and company standards, and support prototype and production builds as needed. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Coimbatore
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering and Design Engineering for heavy fabrication and welded structures.
- Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools, particularly Creo, for 3D modeling, detailing, and assembly design.
- Experience in Product Design, including translating requirements into manufacturable designs and supporting design iterations.
- Basic understanding of Electrical Engineering principles beneficial for integrating mechanical designs with electro-mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of welding processes, fabrication methods, GD&T, and relevant industrial standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate clearly with shop floor and leadership stakeholders.
- Experience in lean manufacturing environments and familiarity with design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly practices is an advantage.
- Prepare complete engineering drawings with dimensions, tolerances, welding symbols, BOM, and manufacturing notes.
- Modify existing models and drawings based on customer revisions.
