Job Description: Tiles & Stone Drafter (AutoCAD)
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Tiles & Stone Drafter to prepare accurate shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and installation layouts for tile and natural stone projects across residential, commercial, and hospitality sectors in the US and Canada. The ideal candidate will have strong AutoCAD drafting skills, an eye for detail, and the ability to interpret architectural and interior design drawings while adhering to North American drafting standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed AutoCAD shop drawings for tile and natural stone installations.Develop floor layouts, wall elevations, slab layouts, and detailed sections based on architectural and design drawings.Create stone cutting and fabrication drawings with precise dimensions and material specifications.Prepare tile pattern layouts, grout joint details, transitions, and edge conditions.Coordinate with architects, designers, project managers, estimators, and production teams.Review construction documents, RFIs, specifications, and submittals to ensure drawing accuracy.Identify potential design conflicts and suggest practical installation solutions.Revise drawings based on client comments and project updates.Maintain drawing standards, naming conventions, and documentation.Ensure compliance with US and Canadian construction and drafting standards.
Required Skills & QualificationsDiploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, Drafting, or a related field.2–5 years of experience in AutoCAD drafting, preferably in tile, stone, millwork, or interior fit-out projects.Strong proficiency in AutoCAD 2D.Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and interior design drawings.Good understanding of natural stone, porcelain tiles, ceramic tiles, mosaics, and installation methods.Knowledge of dimensions, tolerances, scaling, and drafting standards.Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.Good written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and manage multiple project deadlines.
Preferred QualificationsExperience working on projects in the United States and/or Canada.Knowledge of fabrication drawings for marble, granite, quartz, porcelain slabs, and engineered stone.Familiarity with slab optimization, nesting, and material utilization.Experience coordinating with fabrication shops and installation teams.Exposure to BIM, Revit, or Bluebeam is an added advantage.
