Role Description The Senior Registrar Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) will provide comprehensive ENT care, including the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with otolaryngologic conditions in outpatient, inpatient, and emergency settings. Responsibilities include conducting detailed clinical examinations, ordering and interpreting investigations, assisting and performing ENT procedures under supervision or independently as appropriate, and ensuring accurate, timely documentation in medical records. The role involves close collaboration with ENT consultants, anesthesiologists, nursing teams, and allied health professionals to deliver safe and effective care, participate in multidisciplinary rounds, and contribute to clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives. The Senior Registrar will also support teaching activities for junior doctors and students, adhere to hospital protocols and evidence-based guidelines, and participate in on-call rotations as required. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Kochi at VPS Lakeshore Hospital.
Qualifications
- Sound clinical competence in ENT, including history-taking, physical examination, differential diagnosis, and management of common and complex otolaryngologic conditions.
- Proficiency in ENT procedures such as endoscopic examinations, minor operative interventions, and perioperative care under appropriate supervision.
- Strong skills in clinical decision-making, case documentation, and use of hospital information systems and electronic medical records.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and multidisciplinary clinical teams.
- Commitment to patient safety, infection control practices, and adherence to clinical protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to manage workload in a busy tertiary care environment, including participation in shifts and on-call duties.
- Recognized medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and completed residency/postgraduate training in ENT (e.g., MS/ DNB Otolaryngology) from an accredited institution.
- Valid medical registration with relevant national or state medical council; eligibility for hospital credentialing as Senior Registrar ENT.
- Experience in a tertiary or multi-specialty hospital setting, preferably in high-volume ENT departments
