Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Pastry Chef role based in the Kolkata metropolitan area. The Pastry Chef will plan and prepare a variety of baked goods and desserts, including pastries, cakes, cookies, and breads that align with MITTI Café’s quality and presentation standards. Daily responsibilities include measuring and mixing ingredients, baking and decorating products, ensuring food safety and hygiene, and maintaining a clean, organized kitchen and baking area. The role involves collaborating with café staff to coordinate production schedules, manage inventory of baking supplies, and support experiential training for team members with disabilities where needed. The Pastry Chef will also contribute ideas for new menu items and seasonal specials that enhance the customer experience and support MITTI Café’s inclusive mission.
Qualifications
- Strong bakery and baking skills, including preparation of a range of pastries, breads, and desserts.
- Proficiency in food preparation and cooking, with solid foundational culinary skills.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and kitchen best practices.
- Ability to plan production schedules, manage ingredients and inventory, and maintain consistency in product quality.
- Prior experience as a Pastry Chef, Baker, or in a professional kitchen or café environment is preferred.
- Commitment to inclusive workplaces and comfort working alongside and mentoring adults with disabilities.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant culinary or bakery certification or diploma is an advantage.
