Role Description The Pastry Chef role at Indus Hospitality is a full-time, on-site position based in Mumbai. The Pastry Chef will plan, prepare, and produce high-quality pastries, desserts, breads, and baked goods that align with the concepts of Yazu and Juliette. Daily responsibilities include developing and testing recipes, organizing production schedules, overseeing preparation and presentation, and ensuring consistency in taste, texture, and appearance. The role involves managing inventory of ingredients, maintaining food safety and hygiene standards, coordinating with the kitchen team on menu development, and supporting special events and seasonal offerings. The Pastry Chef will also help train junior team members, optimize workflow in the pastry section, and contribute creative ideas to enhance the overall guest experience.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Bakery and Baking, including production of breads, pastries, and desserts.
- Proficiency in Food Preparation and Cooking, with attention to quality, hygiene, and portion control.
- Well-developed Culinary Skills with experience in plated desserts, buffet presentation, and menu development.
- Prior experience as a Pastry Chef or in a similar pastry-focused role within hotels, restaurants, or bakeries.
- Knowledge of kitchen safety, HACCP or equivalent food safety standards, and inventory management.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple orders, and meet service timelines.
- Creativity in flavor combinations, presentation, and seasonal menu design, aligned with Pan-Asian and European concepts.
- Diploma or degree in Culinary Arts, Baking & Pastry, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a collaborative approach to working across kitchen sections.
