Job Purpose
The incumbent is responsible to manage legal activities for Jio World Centre (JWC) including, however not limited to drafting and vetting contracts, conducting legal research, ensuring regulatory compliance, mitigating legal risks, and supporting business teams. The role partners with stakeholders to deliver timely legal advice, protect the organization's interests, ensure compliance with applicable laws, contractual obligations, and corporate governance requirements, while maintaining the highest standards of legal and ethical conduct.
Job Accountabilities
Contract Drafting & Vetting and Legal Advisory
- Draft, review, negotiate and finalize agreements including, however not limited to artist & talent agreements, production agreements, rentals, licensing, sponsorships, intellectual property, marketing collaborations, NDAs, addendums, vendor & service providers, and other commercial transactions.
- Prepare and maintain track of contracts, correspondences, stamping and execution related work.
- Manage contract lifecycle processes, maintain legal documentation, and improve standard contract templates & internal legal policies per business requirements.
- Conduct due diligence and identify potential legal risks in new business initiatives.
- Develop practical risk mitigation strategies that balance legal compliance with business objectives.
- Research and address queries pertaining to intellectual property matters, including copyright, trademarks, licensing, brand protection and content usage.
- Advise business development, leasing, and commercial teams on agreements pertaining to license terms, deal structures and contractual rights and obligations.
- Maintain legal records, MIS, statutory filings, and disclosures, ensuring timely reporting and governance.
- Advise on advertising, marketing campaigns, promotions, influencer collaborations, and brand partnerships, to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor developments in applicable laws and advise stakeholders on potential business impacts.
- Support data privacy, technology, digital media, and customer protection initiatives where applicable.
- Manage disputes, pre-litigation matters, notices, and coordinate with external counsel on proceedings, if any.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, industry regulations, corporate governance, and internal policies.
Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with internal business teams to facilitate timely legal support and informed decision making.
- Liaise with external counsel, regulatory authorities and industry associations as applicable.
- Collaborate with the central RIL team to address legal risks.
Skills
- Experience in drafting contracts.
- Experience in real estate compliances and International Laws.
- Ability to conduct thorough legal research.
- Expertise in managing legal documents and records.
- Commercial acumen.
- Ability to negotiate commercial contracts.
- Knowledge of litigation.
- Knowledge of applicable laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, and executive orders.
- Critical thinking, complex problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, active listening, risk management, and analytical abilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in law from a reputed Law school.
- Post-graduation or specialization relevant to the field of work is preferred.
Experience
- 5+ years of post-qualification experience in the field.
- Experience in media, entertainment, broadcasting, production, or digital content companies is preferred.
- Experience in commercial contract negotiation and IP law is preferred
