The Role
Our client is seeking an Analyst, Legal Counsel in the Banking division.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a global team, providing top-tier service to existing and prospective clients while expanding the business on a product and global level.
Job Description:
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice, transaction support and perform legal risk management in relation to the corporate and investment banking business of client's within India, including (i) corporate banking coverage, (ii) investment banking products including project finance, aviation finance, acquisition finance, real estate finance, export credit finance, commodity finance and ESG finance (ii) capital markets transactions including syndicated loans (preferably in APLMA standard form) and bonds transactions. Note: this role will carry responsibilities for client's and some of its group entities/branches (as and when required).
- Liaise with clients, external lawyers and other transaction parties on transactions within the designated product coverage.
- Drafting Skills to review and negotiate varied contracts such as administrative contracts, vendor contracts and IT contracts by following internal guidance and principles.
- Collaborate closely with Legal and other functional teams in India, international legal and business functions in other regions and other local legal units within the branches and subsidiaries of Client's.
- Be an independent guardian and trusted business partner by providing commercially sensitive, pragmatic and practical legal support and advice in a cost effective and timely manner to Client's.
- Be proactive in the provision of legal consultancy services and guidance to business units on material legal developments with regards to a broad range of products, services and issues.
- Ensure that senior management within Legal function is fully briefed on major issues arising in relevant business area and major legislative changes
- Support group-wide projects, litigation matters, plan and support client's local legal offices across India's management of legal issues and liaise and coordinate with external legal counsels.
- Support Head of Legal, India by engaging in global, regional and/or country initiatives, supervise and manage legal affairs in India, optimize internal and external legal resources.
Job Requirements:
- Indian law qualified lawyer.
- Minimum 5 years of post-qualification working experience.
- Knowledge in banking and finance transaction documents including Loan Market Association based finance documents.
- Prior law firm experience working in the area of banking and finance would be an advantage.
- Additional qualifications relevant to the role such as Company Secretary would be an advantage.
- Strong technical knowledge of legal framework surrounding finance transactions generally and possess strong document drafting skills.
- Good knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to finance and banking.
- Broad experience across banking and lending, wholesale/investment banking products and capital markets.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a good in communication in English.
- The ability to manage large workloads and tight deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- A calm approach, with the ability to perform well in a pressurised environment.
