Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Head Sommelier role based in Mumbai. The Head Sommelier will oversee the wine program, including selection, purchasing, inventory management, and menu development to ensure a well-curated and profitable wine list. The role involves advising guests on wine choices, pairing wines with food, and delivering engaging storytelling around the wines and their origins. The Head Sommelier will train and support service staff on wine knowledge and service standards, collaborate closely with the culinary and beverage teams, and drive wine sales through tastings, events, and educational initiatives. The position requires maintaining high standards of service, staying current with global wine trends, and fostering strong relationships with suppliers and partners.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong expertise in Sommelier practices and Food & Beverage operations.
- Candidates should possess skills in Wine Pairing and a deep understanding of wine styles and regions.
- Candidates should possess experience in Wine Sales and guest-facing service to drive revenue and guest satisfaction.
- Candidates should possess excellent Communication skills for guest interaction, team training, and collaboration.
- Candidates should preferably hold formal wine certifications (e.g., WSET, Court of Master Sommeliers) or equivalent professional training.
- Candidates should demonstrate leadership abilities, attention to detail, and strong organizational and inventory management skills.
- Candidates should have prior experience in a premium or fine-dining environment, with a focus on international wines.
