Finance Business Partner – Tax & Reporting
Location: JNPT, Nhava Sheva, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Important: This is a full-time, on-site role based at JNPT, Nhava Sheva, Navi Mumbai. The successful candidate will be expected to work from the office and be closely connected with the business and operational teams.
About the Role
We are looking for a Finance Business Partner – Tax & Reporting to join the Corporate Finance team and play a key role in driving financial performance, management reporting, taxation, financial planning, treasury, and compliance.
The role combines commercial finance business partnering with strong technical expertise in taxation and financial reporting. The successful candidate will translate financial and operational data into meaningful business insights, support strategic decision-making, ensure compliance with applicable accounting and tax regulations, and drive continuous improvement across finance processes.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong analytical capability, attention to detail, sound technical knowledge, and the ability to partner effectively with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Management Reporting & Business Analysis
- Lead the preparation and analytical review of the Profit & Loss Account and Balance Sheet.
- Prepare and analyse P&L performance by business segment, identifying key drivers, trends, variances, and opportunities.
- Develop financial models and business cases to support commercial and financial decision-making.
- Prepare financial presentations and performance materials for Board meetings and regional performance reviews.
- Perform cost analysis and provide relevant cost information and insights to business and cost owners.
- Review quarterly financials of associate companies.
- Liaise with Statutory Auditors and Internal Auditors on financial and accounting matters.
- Identify and drive process improvements across Finance and other business functions.
2. Group Reporting, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Work closely with the Finance team and back-office functions to ensure the timely and accurate closure of monthly financials.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of financial information through the Group Reporting System.
- Coordinate and prepare quarterly rolling financial forecasts (ROFO).
- Coordinate the preparation of the Annual Budget and periodic forecasts.
- Monitor financial performance against budget and forecast and provide meaningful variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS) and applicable APMM Group Accounting Policies and Principles (GAP).
- Ensure adherence to Internal Financial Controls and Group governance requirements.
3. Taxation
Direct Tax
- Calculate, account for, and reconcile Advance Tax liabilities.
- Support the preparation and filing of Corporate Income Tax Returns.
- Coordinate Income Tax assessments and respond to queries from tax authorities.
- Support applications for Lower Withholding Tax Certificates.
- Manage transfer pricing documentation and support transfer pricing assessments.
- Partner with the Country Tax Centre (CTC) on tax matters and ensure timely resolution of tax-related requirements.
Indirect Tax – GST
- Calculate, account for, and reconcile GST liabilities.
- Ensure timely GST payments and filing of statutory returns.
- Manage GST audits, assessments, reconciliations, and departmental notices.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the business.
- Ensure adherence to Tax SOPs, processes, and internal controls.
TDS Compliance
- Review TDS calculations and ensure timely payment and compliance.
- Manage quarterly TDS return filings.
- Generate TDS certificates and maintain appropriate compliance records.
- Reconcile TDS receivables with Form 26AS and resolve discrepancies.
4. Tax Advisory & Litigation
- Manage tax-related notices, assessments, litigation support, and departmental requirements.
- Coordinate with external tax consultants, advisors, and legal counsel on tax matters.
- Provide tax guidance and support for foreign payments, cross-border transactions, and other complex financial transactions.
- Identify potential tax risks and support the business in developing appropriate mitigation measures.
5. Monthly Management Reporting
- Account for interest payable and interest receivable.
- Calculate and account for corporate tax provisions.
- Prepare and maintain tax-related financial schedules and supporting documentation.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of tax-related accounting entries and reconciliations.
6. Treasury & Cash Flow Management
- Support effective cash flow management and liquidity planning.
- Manage placement of surplus funds, including Fixed Deposits, in line with company policies.
- Manage the placement, renewal, and administration of Bank Guarantees.
- Perform and review weekly and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Identify opportunities to improve cash visibility and working capital management.
7. Audit & Compliance
- Lead and coordinate Tax Audit and Transfer Pricing Audit activities.
- Coordinate with Statutory Auditors, Internal Auditors, Tax Consultants, and other external stakeholders.
- Support statutory, internal, tax, and Group audits.
- Ensure timely closure and resolution of audit observations and recommendations.
- Maintain compliance with applicable regulatory, accounting, tax, governance, and internal control requirements.
8. Business Partnering & Continuous Improvement
- Act as a trusted Finance partner to business leaders and functional heads, providing insights to support informed decision-making.
- Support JNPT-related financial reconciliations, correspondence, reporting, and financial requirements.
- Build strong relationships across Finance, Operations, Commercial, Procurement, and other functions.
- Drive automation, standardisation, digitalisation, and process optimisation initiatives within Finance.
- Develop and coach team members to strengthen finance capabilities and technical expertise.
- Support ad-hoc projects, transformation initiatives, and other strategic business priorities as required.
Education & Professional Qualifications
- Chartered Accountant (CA) – mandatory.
- CPA, MBA Finance, or equivalent qualification will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant post-qualification experience in Finance Business Partnering, FP&A, Management Reporting, Corporate Finance, and Taxation.
- Strong hands-on experience in Direct Tax, Indirect Tax/GST, TDS, Transfer Pricing, and tax compliance.
- Demonstrated experience in management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and business modelling.
- Experience working with senior business stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Experience in infrastructure, logistics, ports, shipping, terminals, or related industries will be an advantage.
- Candidates should be comfortable working in a hands-on, business-facing environment and engaging closely with operational teams.
Technical Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of Ind AS and financial reporting requirements.
- Strong expertise in management accounting, financial analysis, and performance reporting.
- Comprehensive understanding of Direct and Indirect Tax, including GST, TDS, and Transfer Pricing.
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and business planning capabilities.
- Working knowledge of commercial law, concession agreements, and corporate financial policies will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of treasury, liquidity, and cash flow management.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with ERP systems and Group Reporting platforms.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- High level of ownership, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
