Job details:
Orikai is a children’s clothing brand where timeless tailoring meets playful charm. Inspired by heritage dressing and old-money aesthetics, we create thoughtfully designed clothing for children aged 2–12 years, with an emphasis on beautiful fabrics, refined silhouettes, comfort, and quality craftsmanship.
We’re looking for a Fashion Design Intern to work closely with our design and production team and experience the complete journey of building a collection — from the first idea and fabric swatch to the final garment.
This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to understand not just how to design clothes, but how to actually bring them to life.

Design & Collection Development
• Assist in developing concepts, moodboards, colour stories and collection themes
• Research silhouettes, fabrics, trims, details and seasonal trends
• Assist in developing new styles across dresses, co-ord sets, shirts, trousers and other kidswear categories
• Help translate references and concepts into commercially viable designs while maintaining Orikai's aesthetic
Sampling & Product Development
• Work closely with the team from initial sketch to final approved sample
• Coordinate with pattern masters, tailors and vendors during sampling
• Follow up on samples and maintain development timelines
• Check garment proportions, fit, construction, finishing and overall appearance
• Maintain records of sample iterations and approvals
• Final QC post production
Fabric, Trims & Sourcing
• Assist with sourcing fabrics, buttons, laces, trims and other materials
• Visit fabric and trim markets/vendors when required
• Create and maintain fabric, trim and swatch libraries
• Research new materials and finishes suitable for children's clothing
• Coordinate with suppliers for sampling requirements and availability
