Job Purpose: We are seeking a qualified Chartered Accountant to lead the Taxation function and ensure compliance with direct and indirect tax regulations. The role involves managing taxation operations, driving tax optimization, handling assessments and audits, ensuring statutory compliance, and leading a high-performing tax team.
Key Responsibilities
Direct & Indirect Tax Compliance
- Ensure timely and accurate compliance with all Direct and Indirect Tax regulations, including Income Tax, GST, TDS, and TCS.
- Review and approve statutory tax filings such as GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, GSTR-9C, TDS/TCS returns, and Income Tax Returns.
- Monitor tax liabilities, ensure timely tax payments, and maintain complete statutory compliance to avoid penalties.
Tax Planning & Financial Reporting
- Review quarterly advance tax computations, tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and Form 26AS reconciliations.
- Identify tax planning opportunities to optimize the organization's tax position while ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
- Support financial reporting by ensuring accurate tax accounting and compliance with Accounting Standards and statutory requirements.
Tax Audits, Assessments & Regulatory Compliance
- Lead tax audits by preparing audit schedules, annexures, and supporting documentation while coordinating with internal and external auditors.
- Handle Income Tax and GST assessments, notices, appeals, and departmental inquiries by preparing responses and coordinating with tax consultants.
- Ensure compliance with transfer pricing, foreign remittance taxation, and other regulatory requirements through timely documentation and statutory submissions.
Stakeholder Management & Business Partnering
- Collaborate with Finance, Accounts, Procurement, Commercial, and other business functions to provide taxation guidance and resolve tax-related matters.
- Coordinate with banks, statutory authorities, auditors, and regulatory bodies for taxation and compliance-related activities.
- Advise management on changes in tax legislation, potential business impacts, and recommended compliance or planning measures.
Process Improvement & Governance
- Strengthen taxation processes by implementing robust internal controls, SOPs, and compliance mechanisms.
- Drive automation and effective utilization of SAP/ERP systems to improve accuracy, reporting, and operational efficiency.
- Continuously monitor changes in tax laws and implement process enhancements to improve compliance and reduce tax risks.
Team Leadership & Capability Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the taxation team by providing technical guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
- Identify capability gaps and organize training initiatives to enhance technical knowledge and regulatory awareness.
- Foster a high-performance, collaborative, and compliance-driven work environment while ensuring effective workload management.
Educational Qualification
- Chartered Accountant (CA)
Experience
- 12–15 years of relevant experience with proven expertise in independently managing the Taxation function in a manufacturing organization.
- Experience in the paper, chemical, process, or other large manufacturing industries will be preferred.
