Role Description The Assistant Manager – Procurement is responsible for managing the procurement of proprietary parts, OEM-specified components, and critical materials required for the organization's operations. The role ensures timely sourcing, cost optimization, supplier coordination, purchase order execution, and compliance with procurement policies while maintaining uninterrupted availability of quality materials to support Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations.
Responsibility
Procurement Planning & Execution- Execute procurement activities for proprietary parts, OEM-specified items, and assigned procurement categories.
- Process approved purchase requisitions into Purchase Orders (PO) or Work Orders (WO) through SAP/ERP within defined timelines.
- Monitor procurement schedules to ensure uninterrupted availability of critical materials.
Vendor Management- Identify, evaluate, and coordinate with OEMs, authorized dealers, and sole-source suppliers for procurement requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and service support.
- Maintain updated vendor databases, supplier performance records, and commercial documentation.
Commercial Evaluation & Negotiation- Prepare Requests for Quotation (RFQs), comparative statements, and techno-commercial evaluation reports for management review.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, warranties, and commercial conditions with suppliers while ensuring cost effectiveness.
- Support contract finalization and commercial documentation in accordance with company policies.
Technical Coordination- Coordinate with Engineering and Maintenance teams to validate proprietary part specifications, technical requirements, and interchangeability.
- Ensure procurement aligns with approved technical standards and OEM recommendations.
Purchase Order & Delivery Management- Track Purchase Orders from release until material delivery.
- Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely dispatch and resolve delivery delays or supply constraints.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders for material receipt and issue resolution.
Insurance, Payment & Compliance- Coordinate insurance claims related to damaged or transit-loss materials.
- Ensure timely Goods Receipt Note (GRN) completion and support payment processing.
- Maintain procurement documentation for statutory, internal, and external audits.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement- Prepare procurement MIS reports related to purchase status, supplier performance, procurement savings, and pending orders.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing procurement efficiency, supplier performance, and cost optimization.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related discipline.
- MBA/Post Graduate Diploma in Supply Chain or Materials Management will be an added advantage.
Experience
· 5–8 years of experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, or Supply Chain Management.
· Experience in procurement of OEM parts, proprietary components, automotive, EV, manufacturing, or engineering industries is preferred.
· Working knowledge of SAP/ERP procurement modules is desirable.

· Strong procurement and strategic sourcing knowledge.

· Commercial negotiation and cost optimization skills.
· Knowledge of proprietary parts and OEM procurement processes.
· Ability to prepare RFQs, techno-commercial comparisons, and procurement documentation.
· Working knowledge of SAP/ERP procurement modules and purchase order processing.
· Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
· Excellent planning, organization, and follow-up skills.
· Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
· Good understanding of inventory management and supply chain principles.
· Knowledge of contract management and procurement compliance.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and procurement reporting tools.
