Job Title: Manager - Impact Assessment
Reporting To: Chief of Operations
Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka, with travel to program locations as required
Language Proficiency: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with additional any Indian language.
Summary of the Role
The Manager - Impact Assessment will lead the organization’s monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning function. The role will strengthen measurement frameworks and data systems, lead program evaluations and research studies, and translate evidence into actionable insights for program improvement and strategic decision-making.
The incumbent will work across functions, manage and build the capacity of the Impact Assessment team, and promote a culture of accountability, service orientation, learning, and evidence-based decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
1. M&E Strategy and Framework Development: Lead the design and implementation of the organization’s monitoring, evaluation, and learning strategy, including Theory of Change, results frameworks, KPIs, outcome indicators, measurement frameworks, and annual assessment plans with high research ethics.
2. Research, Evaluation and Pilot Studies: Design and lead quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods studies, including needs assessments, process evaluations, outcome and effectiveness studies, implementation assessments, pilot evaluations, and studies of new programs, products, and delivery approaches.
3. Large-Scale Monitoring and Field Implementation: Plan and oversee assessment activities across programs and geographies, including sampling, tool administration, field-team training, implementation tracking, quality assurance, and adherence to approved research protocols.
4. Data Management, Analysis and Reporting: Strengthen systems for data collection, validation, analysis, visualization, and reporting. Produce dashboards, technical reports, donor reports, presentations, and management insights for technical and non-technical audiences.
5. Program Learning and Evidence-Based Improvement: Analyze program performance, identify implementation gaps, and translate evidence into actionable recommendations for program design, curriculum, training, operations, technology, and scaling decisions.
6. Stakeholder and Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with leadership, program teams, academics, training, technology, regional teams, government stakeholders, donors, CSR partners, research organizations, external evaluators, and vendors to ensure effective implementation and use of evidence.
7. Team Leadership and Capacity Building: Lead and develop the Impact Assessment team, establish effective work processes and quality standards, build the capacity of team members and Ignators, manage multiple studies and priorities, and promote a culture of accountability, learning, service orientation, and data-driven decision-making. Develop a clear second line of leadership capability within the team.
Qualifications
•Minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, Education, Social Sciences, Program Evaluation, Data Analytics, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• Additional certification or specialized training in Monitoring and Evaluation, Research Methodology, Statistics, Data Analytics, Impact Evaluation, or Project Management will be an advantage.
• About 8+ years of relevant experience in impact assessment, monitoring and evaluation, program evaluation, applied research, data analytics, or a related field, out of which atleast 2 years in a team leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods evaluation studies across geographies in India.
• Experience leading teams and coordinating with program teams, donors, research partners, and external agencies.
• Experience in dealing effectively with multiple stakeholders and senior management.
• Prior experience in the education, development, nonprofit, or social-impact sector is preferred.
• Data Analysis and Statistical Methods: Strong ability to clean, manage, analyze, interpret, and present quantitative and qualitative data with sound knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics, including sampling, hypothesis testing, correlation analysis, confidence intervals, regression & data models and significance testing.
• Data Analysis Tools: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, PivotTables, Power Query, data cleaning, dashboards, charts, and data modelling. Ability to perform analysis tasks using R / Python / Stata / other suitable tools would be desirable.
• Experience developing dashboards and visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, Excel, Python, R, Looker Studio or similar tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong technical, analytical, and academic writing capability.
• Ability to prepare high-quality evaluation reports, donor reports, technical briefs, presentations, dashboards, and management summaries.
• Ability to translate complex statistical and research findings into clear, practical, and actionable recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences.
