About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead and oversee the design delivery for data centre projects. This role is responsible for driving design strategy, coordination, and execution across all disciplines, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and integrated design solutions. The position focuses on managing the end-to-end design lifecycle, stakeholder alignment, and engineering excellence
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the overall design delivery for data centre projects from concept through detailed design stages
- Oversee coordination across multi-disciplinary teams (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Architecture, BIM) to ensure integrated and optimized design solutions
- Define design strategy, standards, and best practices for project execution
- Develop, monitor, and control design schedules, deliverables, and milestones
- Act as the primary interface for clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders for all design-related matters
- Ensure adherence to industry standards, codes, regulatory requirements, and client specifications
- Identify and manage design risks, changes, and dependencies proactively
- Conduct and lead design reviews, value engineering sessions, and technical audits
- Ensure quality, consistency, and completeness of all design documentation
- Support the Bid Management team with design inputs and manhour estimations
- Drive continuous improvement in design methodologies, tools, and processes
- Oversee manhour planning, monitoring, and utilization for design teams
- Track design progress against delivery and billing milestones
- Contribute to project program development and planning
Key Requirements:
- 15+ years of experience, including 5+ years in design management/delivery for Data Centre or Mission Critical projects
- Proven experience in managing complex design projects end-to-end
- Strong understanding of MEP systems, especially in high-availability/data centre environments
- Knowledge of data centre design principles, including topologies, redundancy (N, N+1, 2N), and Tier/rating concepts
- Experience in design coordination across global or remote teams
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Educational Qualification: B.Tech / Bachelor’s in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics Engineering
- Exposure to international projects is an added advantage
- PMP certification is a plus; however, strong design/project management expertise is essential
