Mid Level UX/UI Designer | Privado AI
About Privado AI
Privado AI is a privacy intelligence platform trusted by enterprise privacy and engineering teams to continuously monitor, map, and govern personal data across their tech stack. We're backed by Sequoia Capital, Insight Partners, Emergent VC, and Together Fund, and we're growing fast in the US market.
Our customers include some of the most recognizable companies in the world, including Costco, HP, Autodesk, Intuit, Nasdaq, ZoomInfo, Sony, Robinhood, Mattel, Riot Games, DoorDash, Takeda, Chipotle, P&G, and Infosys. Our buyers are privacy officers, general counsel, and engineering leaders. They're sophisticated people who expect substance, and that's exactly what we bring.
The Opportunity
Privado started as an open source code scanning product for privacy. It reads your codebase, finds personal data, traces how that data moves, catches leaks into logs, and flags privacy issues before anything ships. We've since extended that to web and mobile app scanning, and agentic assessment workflows are next.
That's a hard thing to design. The data is dense, the flows are technical, and the people using it are engineers and privacy practitioners who will notice every place the interface makes their job harder. Most privacy software in this category looks like a compliance form, our's shouldn't.
You'd be joining a design team of three inside a 60 person company, working directly with product managers, tech leads, and our CEO. Every design project at Privado is open to everyone. If a project interests you and you can make the case for it, you can own it. This is not a role where work gets assigned down to you.
We're deliberately hiring at mid level. We want someone with real craft who is still building their range, not someone who has already settled into a process and wants to supervise it.
What You'll Own
- Product interfaces. Ship production ready UI for complex enterprise flows across our scanning, data mapping, and assessment products. This is hands on interface and visual design, and it's the largest part of the role.
- Problem definition. Work with product managers and engineers to turn ambiguous problems into clear statements before anyone opens Figma. Bring methods and toolkits for getting a room to agreement.
- Design quality. Critique our existing product honestly, find what's broken or underbuilt, and turn that into self initiated projects you propose and run.
- Design culture. Run reviews, raise the bar on craft across teams, and advocate for the user in rooms where nobody else will.
- Brand and growth work. Occasional, alongside the product team. Optional, and yours if you want it.
What We're Looking For
- You bring 2 to 3 years of experience with user experience and interface design as your core skill.
- You have a strong sense of what an elegant B2B SaaS product feels like, and you can explain why a good one is good rather than just pointing at it.
- Your design foundations are strong. Typography, hierarchy, layout, systems thinking. Visual and interface craft is a significant part of this role and we will look closely at it.
- You communicate ideas through user flows, prototypes, wireframes, and high fidelity interfaces. Build your own process however you like, as long as it produces outcomes.
- You write and speak clearly. We're remote and async, so unclear communication is expensive here in a way it isn't elsewhere.
- We value skills and potential over formal educational background. Side projects and self directed learning count as much as industry experience.
What Success Looks Like in 90 Days
- You've shipped at least one complete flow end to end, from problem statement to production.
- You know our product well enough to critique it specifically, and you've brought us a list of what's wrong with it.
- Engineers come to you early rather than after the fact.
- You've proposed one project that nobody asked you for.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary and meaningful equity. ESOPs are on the table for the right candidate.
- Freedom to choose your hours. We measure outcomes, not hours logged, and we keep meetings to a minimum outside a few shared hours.
- Work from anywhere. We're 60+ people across the US, EU, and India. We hire globally and you work locally, whether that's a city centre or a village near the ocean.
- Unlimited paid time off plus your local holidays. We don't count days.
- Personal and family medical insurance, a laptop, and a work from home setup grant so your desk is one you can do your best work at.
- Budget for whatever tools you need.
To Apply
- A portfolio is mandatory. Applications without one are not reviewed.
- Share a URL, or a PDF under 10 MB via Google Drive if you don't have a site. Please don't send raw Figma prototypes. Quality over quantity, and include work you actually want to talk about, because we'll use it as the starting point of the conversation.
Along with your portfolio, tell us three things:
- Walk us through the most complex interface you've designed. What made it hard, and what did you do about it?
- Show us a design decision you got wrong. What did you learn from the users, and what did you change?
- Pick any B2B product you use regularly and tell us what you'd redesign about it and why.
Hiring Process
Round 1. Exploratory call. Introductions, the role, your background.
Round 2. Design discussion. What design means to you, and a walkthrough of your work.
Round 3. Culture conversation. Values and aspirations, and your chance to interview us.
