Job details:
WATER is a Biophysical Intelligence research company. Our mission is to teach matter to respond to life: we study how the human body and the physical world respond to each other, and we build machines that sense a body, model its state, and respond in real time. CAMA, an adaptive bed, and FLOW, an adaptive chair, are the first surfaces this research runs on. The work spans three research directions: machine learning and mathematics, bio research, and materials and electronics. The long-range outcomes we care about are human longevity and human experience.
You own flows and screens in the mobile application. You'll work on onboarding, data views, edge states, interactive prototypes, and usability testing on real hardware.
In this role you will:
- Design flows, screens and states for the mobile application, end to end.
- Build interactive prototypes and test them with real users on real devices.
- Contribute to and maintain the design system.
- Design data visualisation for continuous physiological and postural data.
- Handle the unglamorous states properly — first run, no data, low confidence, device offline, error.
- Work with mobile engineers through implementation and review the build against the design.
- Run usability sessions and write up what you learned.
What We Hope You'll Bring
- You have shipped an app people actually used, and you can talk about the flow you got wrong.
- 2+ years in product or UX design.
- Strong Figma, including prototyping and component systems.
- You design the whole state machine, not just the easy path.
- You can discuss feasibility with an engineer without needing a translator.
- Nice to have: data visualisation, companion apps for hardware, motion design, basic front-end.
