Role Description The Senior Veterinary Physician will provide high-quality clinical care to companion animals and other patients at partner veterinary facilities in Coimbatore. This full-time, on-site role includes performing physical examinations, diagnosing medical conditions, recommending treatment plans, and carrying out medical, surgical, and preventive procedures. The physician will oversee case management, ensure accurate medical record keeping, and collaborate with veterinary assistants and other team members to deliver consistent, compassionate care. Daily responsibilities also include client communication and counseling, educating pet caregivers on treatment, nutrition, and preventive health, and promoting adherence to clinical protocols and standards. The role may involve mentoring junior veterinary professionals and supporting VetXplore’s mission to strengthen veterinary teams and patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Clinical expertise in small animal medicine and surgery, including diagnostics, treatment planning, and case management.
- Strong skills in preventive care, including vaccination protocols, parasite control, nutrition counseling, and wellness programs.
- Ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with clients, explain medical conditions and treatment options, and provide follow-up guidance.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary veterinary teams, mentoring junior clinicians, and supporting staff development.
- Knowledge of veterinary ethics, animal welfare standards, and adherence to regulatory and professional guidelines.
- Proficiency in using veterinary practice management software and maintaining accurate, detailed medical records.
- Recognized veterinary medical degree (e.g., BVSc or equivalent) and valid license/registration to practice veterinary medicine as per local regulations.
- Several years of post-qualification clinical experience in a hospital or clinic setting; prior leadership or senior physician experience is an advantage.
- Ability to work flexible hours if needed, adapt to a fast-paced clinical environment, and maintain a high standard of patient care.
- Interest in contributing to practice growth, client education initiatives, and continuous professional development.
