Role Description The Senior Study Abroad Counselor will provide end-to-end guidance to students seeking international education opportunities, from initial counseling sessions through final pre-departure support. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing students’ academic profiles, recommending suitable countries and institutions, and advising on courses and programs aligned with their goals. The role involves supporting students with application documentation, scholarship and financial aid options, and coordinating visa guidance in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. The counselor will conduct information sessions, maintain accurate student records, follow up with leads, and build strong relationships with students, families, and institutional partners. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Kozhikode, requiring consistent in-person engagement with prospective students and team members.
Qualifications
- Strong student counseling and advisory skills, with the ability to understand academic goals and recommend appropriate study abroad pathways.
- Experience in international education processes, including university selection, application procedures, scholarship guidance, and visa documentation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with students, families, and institutional partners, both in individual and group settings.
- Organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple student cases, maintain records, and meet application and visa deadlines.
- Proficiency with office productivity tools and CRM or student management systems to track inquiries, applications, and follow-ups.
- Prior experience in a study abroad consulting, academic counseling, or education services environment, preferably in a senior or lead role.
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline; a postgraduate degree or certification in counseling, education, or related fields is an advantage.
- Awareness of global higher education trends, major study destinations, and admission requirements across key countries and institutions.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team, uphold ethical counseling practices, and maintain a student-first approach.
- Fluency in English and local languages relevant to Kozhikode; additional language skills are beneficial.
