Role Description The Senior Specialist – Social Compliance is a full-time, on-site role based in Tiruppur, responsible for strengthening social compliance practices of our supply chain partner. This role includes planning and conducting social compliance audits, factory visits, and assessments to ensure adherence to local labor laws, ethical sourcing standards, and customer-specific codes of conduct. The Senior Specialist will prepare detailed audit reports, track corrective and preventive action plans, and support factories and internal teams in closing non-conformities within agreed timelines. Daily activities include coordinating with vendors and buyers, maintaining documentation for certifications and customer programs, and monitoring updates to local and international regulations. The role also involves training suppliers on compliance requirements, supporting risk assessments, and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to embed social compliance into business processes.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of social compliance standards, labor laws, and ethical sourcing practices, including familiarity with audits, certifications, and buyer requirements.
- Experience in conducting factory assessments, preparing audit reports, and managing corrective action plans within manufacturing or apparel/textile environments.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills to work with suppliers, internal teams, and external auditors.
- Ability to analyze data, identify risks, and implement practical solutions, with strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in using office productivity tools (e.g., spreadsheets, presentations, compliance tracking systems) and maintaining organized records.
- Proven ability to work on-site in Tiruppur, manage multiple priorities, and travel locally as needed for audits and reviews.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Social Work, Law, Business, Compliance, or a related discipline; advanced certifications in social compliance or sustainability are an advantage.
- Prior experience in compliance, CSR, sustainability, or supply chain management, preferably in the apparel or textile sector (especially for UK Buyer), is highly beneficial.
