The Role
We are seeking an accomplished, hands-on Senior Manager, Finance to lead our India finance function from Bangalore and serve as the controllership backbone for the group. This is a senior individual-contributor-plus-leadership role for a Chartered Accountant who owns the integrity of the India books end to end, guarantees 100% statutory compliance across Income Tax, GST, and every other applicable law, and partners closely with the US finance team to deliver a clean, timely global consolidation.
You will be the single point of accountability for India accounting and compliance, and a key driver of the controllership agenda across both jurisdictions — internal controls, month-end and year-end close, audit readiness, and reliable, decision-grade numbers. Accuracy is non-negotiable; you set the standard for it.
Primary Responsibilities
India Accounting & Controllership
• Full-cycle India accounting: Own the complete accounting cycle for the India entity — general ledger, AP/AR, payroll accounting, fixed assets, intercompany, and multi-currency transactions — ensuring accurate, timely month-end and year-end closes.
• Books integrity: Maintain a clean, audit-ready trial balance and chart of accounts in the accounting system (e.g., Tally / Zoho Books), with disciplined reconciliations of all balance-sheet accounts, banks, and intercompany balances.
• Financial statements under Indian GAAP / Ind AS: Prepare standalone India financial statements in accordance with Indian Accounting Standards, including schedules, notes, and required disclosures.
• Internal controls: Design, document, and enforce internal controls and finance SOPs; establish a monthly close calendar with clear ownership, cut-offs, and review gates so nothing slips.
Tax & Statutory Compliance (India)
• Income Tax & TDS: Ensure accurate and on-time computation, deduction, deposit, and return filing for TDS/TCS; manage advance tax, corporate income-tax returns, tax audit (Form 3CD), assessments, and notices — with zero missed deadlines and full documentation.
• GST: Own end-to-end GST compliance — monthly/quarterly returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B), annual return and reconciliation (GSTR-9/9C), input tax credit reconciliation (GSTR-2B), e-invoicing, and refunds, including on export of services.
• Other applicable laws: Ensure compliance with the Companies Act and MCA/ROC filings, PF, ESI, Professional Tax, Shops & Establishments, and — for cross-border flows — FEMA/RBI reporting and Transfer Pricing documentation (Form 3CEB, Master File / local file as applicable).
• Regulatory liaison: Manage relationships with tax authorities, consultants, and company secretaries; track the statutory compliance calendar and provide the Head of Finance with a clear, current compliance status at all times.
Global Consolidation & Reporting
• Group consolidation: Partner with the US finance team to deliver an accurate monthly and annual global consolidation — eliminating intercompany transactions, applying appropriate FX translation, and bridging Indian GAAP to US GAAP where required.
• Intercompany & transfer pricing: Operate the intercompany billing and cost-allocation model in line with the group’s transfer-pricing policy, ensuring the India-US split is applied and reconciled consistently period over period.
• Management reporting: Produce consolidated management reporting and variance analysis that bridges India and US performance, giving leadership decision-grade numbers on time.
Audit, Treasury & Team
• Audit management: Lead statutory, tax, and transfer-pricing audits for India and support group/US audit requests — owning schedules, workpapers, and auditor queries to closure.
• Cash & treasury support: Oversee India cash flow, banking, vendor and payroll payments, and cross-border remittances, coordinating on FX and funding with the Head of Finance.
• Leadership: Build, mentor, and hold accountable a small India finance team; raise the bar on accuracy, timeliness, and process discipline.
Required Experience, Skills & Qualifications
• Qualification: Chartered Accountant (CA) is required. An additional qualification (CPA, CMA, or MBA-Finance) is a plus.
• Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting, tax, and controllership experience, including at least 3–4 years in an India finance function; experience in an IT/technology services, consulting, or multinational environment is strongly preferred.
• India compliance depth: Expert, hands-on command of Indian Income Tax, TDS, GST, Companies Act, and payroll-related statutory compliance, with a demonstrable track record of 100% on-time, accurate filings.
• Consolidation & cross-border: Practical experience with group consolidation, intercompany accounting, transfer pricing, FEMA/RBI reporting, and US-India intercompany transactions; working knowledge of US GAAP is a strong advantage.
• Systems: Hands-on proficiency with accounting platforms (Tally and/or Zoho Books; QuickBooks exposure a plus) and advanced Microsoft Excel; comfort improving systems and automating reconciliations.
• Rigor & ownership: Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail, strong internal-controls mindset, and the ability to work across time zones with US-based stakeholders.
What Makes You a Great Fit
You treat accuracy as sacred and compliance as non-negotiable, yet you never lose sight of the business. You are as comfortable defending a tax position with the authorities as you are closing the books or building a clean consolidation. You take assertive ownership of the numbers, raise issues early, and bring solutions — thriving in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where your work has direct, global impact.
Personal Characteristics for Success
• Customer First: We obsess about our customers’ needs and outcomes first.
• Drive: We are driven and hungry to make an impact. “It’s Day One, always.”
• Relationships: We build and maintain positive relationships.
• Ownership: We practice hands-on ownership with a strong bias for action.
• Learning & Growth: We learn and grow every day.
• Empathy & Compassion: We take a people-first approach, always.
