Role Description The Senior Business Development Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai. This role is responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, building and maintaining strong client relationships, and expanding Howden’s presence within target markets. Day-to-day activities include prospecting and qualifying leads, preparing and delivering client proposals, negotiating terms, and collaborating with internal teams to design tailored insurance solutions. The Senior Business Development Manager will track market trends, analyze portfolio performance, and provide strategic input to support revenue growth and client retention. This position also involves mentoring junior team members, representing Howden at industry events, and ensuring high standards of client service and ethical business practices.
Qualifications
- Strong business development and sales skills, including lead generation, opportunity management, and deal negotiation.
- Experience in client relationship management and account management within insurance, financial services, or related sectors.
- Ability to analyze market trends, develop growth strategies, and contribute to commercial planning.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue and profitability targets.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field; a postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
- Prior experience in insurance broking, underwriting, or risk consultancy is highly beneficial.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and diverse environment.
- High ethical standards, integrity, and commitment to using insurance as a force for good.
