"Initially, you will be required to relocate to Ahmedabad for 6 months to set up operations in GIFT City, Gandhinagar. Once the setup is complete, the operations can be managed from Mumbai.
1. Position Overview
The Principal Officer cum Chief Executive Officer (PO cum CEO) is the key managerial person responsible for the overall management, leadership and business operations of the Fund Management Entity (FME) established in the GIFT City International Financial Services Centre (IFSC), as well as the associated fund constituted under the SEBI Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) framework. Both funds will be majorly focused on the real estate sector. Operating within the regulatory framework prescribed by the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) and SEBI, the PO cum CEO shall lead fund-raising, project evaluation, investment deployment, regulatory compliance, fund administration and stakeholder engagement, ensuring that both vehicles and the schemes they manage operate in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations and circulars.
2. Eligibility – Qualification Requirements
The candidate must possess any one of the following qualifications:
3.1 Professional Qualification
- Chartered Accountant (CA);
- Company Secretary (CS); or
- Cost Accountant (CMA).
3.2 Post-Graduate Qualification
- Post-graduate degree or post-graduate diploma (minimum one year in duration) in Finance, Law, Accountancy, Business Management, Commerce, Economics, Capital Market, Banking, Insurance or Actuarial Science from a recognised university or institution.
3.3 International Professional Certifications
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA); or
- Financial Risk Manager (FRM) from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP).
3.4 Graduate with Extensive Experience
- A graduate in any discipline having at least 15 years of experience in activities related to fund management, including portfolio management, investment advisory or similar activities.
3. Eligibility – Experience Requirements
In addition to the qualification above, the candidate must satisfy either of the following experience criteria:
- Option 1: Minimum 5 years of experience in activities related to the securities market or financial products in an Eligible Institution; OR
- Option 2: Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience in an Eligible Institution, together with a valid certification as prescribed by IFSCA.
“Eligible Institution” includes:
- Financial Sector Institutions – Market Infrastructure Institutions, Capital Market Intermediaries, Financial Sector Regulators, FMEs, Banks, Finance Companies, Insurance Companies, Insurance Intermediaries in IFSC, and equivalent institutions in India or any foreign jurisdiction.
- Professional and Advisory Firms – Consulting firms, advisory firms, Chartered Accountant firms, Company Secretary firms and Cost Accountant firms, provided such entities render services relating to financial products to the institutions specified above.
- Corporate Experience – Private or public companies where the experience relates to finance, accounts, secretarial or legal functions.
Preference: As both funds will be majorly focused on the real estate sector, prior experience in real estate fund management, investment or project evaluation will be strongly preferred.
4. Key Roles and Responsibilities
5.1 Fund Raising
- Lead and support capital-raising initiatives for the investment funds managed by the FME.
- Engage with prospective investors, distributors, placement agents, family offices, institutional investors and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate investor onboarding and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
5.2 Project Evaluation and Investment Deployment
- Lead the evaluation, appraisal and structuring of real estate and related projects, including market assessment, feasibility analysis, financial modelling, risk assessment and returns analysis.
- Identify, evaluate and execute investment opportunities for funds established under the SEBI Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) framework and the IFSCA / GIFT City fund management regulations.
- Support portfolio monitoring, investment due diligence, transaction execution and investment committee processes.
5.3 Regulatory and Compliance Oversight
- Oversee and ensure compliance across both the FME (under IFSCA regulations, circulars and guidelines) and the SEBI AIF (under the SEBI AIF Regulations), including the schemes managed under each.
- Coordinate with regulators, auditors, custodians, administrators and other service providers.
5.4 Fund Administration and Operations
- Oversee day-to-day fund administration activities.
- Coordinate NAV reporting, investor reporting, accounting, record maintenance and regulatory filings.
- Monitor operational processes and internal controls.
5.5 Business Development and Stakeholder Management
- Develop and maintain relationships with investors, intermediaries, service providers and strategic partners.
- Support the expansion of the FME’s business activities and product offerings within the applicable regulatory framework.
5. Key Competencies
- Strong working knowledge of the IFSCA fund management framework and the SEBI AIF regulations.
- Demonstrated experience in real estate project evaluation, investment appraisal and financial modelling.
- Sound understanding of fund structuring, FEMA, taxation and cross-border investment considerations.
- Demonstrated ability in investor relations, fund-raising and stakeholder management.
- High standards of integrity, governance and regulatory discipline.
- Excellent leadership, communication and analytical skills.
