Role Description The Overseas Education Counselor is a full-time, on-site role based at IHM’s Kochi campus. The counselor provides guidance to prospective and current students on international education pathways, IHM’s postgraduate programs, admission requirements, and study options abroad. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting one-on-one and group counseling sessions, responding to inquiries via email, phone, and in person, and supporting students through the application, documentation, and visa processes. The role involves organizing information sessions and workshops, maintaining accurate student records, and collaborating with academic and administrative staff to ensure a smooth student experience. The counselor also contributes to outreach activities, builds relationships with schools and colleges, and stays updated on global education trends and regulations.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Educational Consulting and Education, with the ability to clearly explain programs, pathways, and requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in Student Counseling and Career Counseling, supporting learners in making informed academic and career decisions.
- Excellent Communication skills, including active listening, clear speaking, and professional writing for diverse student populations.
- Previous experience in overseas education advisory, international admissions, or higher education counseling is highly desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Management, or a related field; postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
- Knowledge of international education systems, visa processes, and regulatory requirements relevant to key destination countries.
- Strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and institutional partners.
- Proficiency in basic office software and online communication tools; experience with CRM or student management systems is beneficial.
