The Nurse Incharge is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the assigned nursing unit, ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. The role involves supervising nursing staff, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, maintaining compliance with hospital policies and NABH standards, and promoting a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily nursing activities in the assigned ward or unit.
- Ensure delivery of safe, compassionate, and evidence-based patient care.
- Prepare and manage staff duty rosters, shift schedules, and leave planning.
- Monitor nursing documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Oversee medication administration and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with NABH standards, infection control guidelines, and hospital policies.
- Coordinate with doctors, laboratory, pharmacy, and other departments for effective patient care.
- Mentor, guide, and evaluate nursing staff to maintain professional standards and discipline.
- Conduct patient rounds and address patient or attendant concerns promptly.
- Monitor ward inventory, medical equipment, and consumables, and report shortages.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and accreditation activities.
- Organize and facilitate staff orientation, training, and continuing education programs.
- Maintain emergency preparedness and ensure proper handling of critical situations.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required by management.
Required Qualifications
- GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery), B.Sc. Nursing, or M.Sc. Nursing.
- Valid Nursing Council registration.
- 1–5 years of clinical nursing experience, with supervisory experience preferred.
