Role Description The New Product Development Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position based in Ludhiana. This role involves leading the development of new forged and machined components from concept to production, including feasibility analysis, design coordination, and prototype validation. The engineer will collaborate closely with design, production, quality, and sales teams to translate customer requirements into manufacturable products, prepare technical documentation, and support cost and process optimization. Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating with suppliers and internal stakeholders, supporting tooling and process development, monitoring trial runs, and driving continuous improvement in product performance and manufacturability. The role also includes ensuring compliance with quality standards, supporting APQP/PPAP activities, and contributing to innovation initiatives aligned with company goals.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in mechanical engineering or related discipline, with experience in product development for forged, machined, or sheet metal components.
- Proficiency in engineering design and analysis tools (e.g., CAD software, tolerance analysis, basic FEA understanding) and ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as forging, machining, heat treatment, and sheet metal forming, including process planning and tooling considerations.
- Experience with quality and validation practices, including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, control plans, and root cause analysis for product and process issues.
- Effective project management skills, including planning, documentation, timeline tracking, and cross-functional coordination with production, quality, and supply chain teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with attention to detail and a focus on continuous improvement.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, ability to interact with customers and suppliers, and readiness to work in an on-site, shop-floor-oriented environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; prior experience in automotive or industrial components manufacturing is highly beneficial.
