Role Description The NPD Engineer role at AM Placement Planet is a full-time, on-site position based in Ludhiana. The NPD Engineer will be responsible for driving new product development from concept to production, including designing components, preparing technical drawings, and validating prototypes. Daily tasks will include coordinating with cross-functional teams such as manufacturing, quality, and procurement to ensure design feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to industry standards. The role involves conducting design reviews, performing root cause analysis for product issues, and implementing design improvements based on testing and feedback. The NPD Engineer will also support documentation, maintain project timelines, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in product development processes.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in product design and development, including experience with concept generation, prototyping, and validation.
- Proficiency in engineering design tools and CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar), with the ability to create detailed drawings and technical documentation.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, materials selection, and design for manufacturability and assembly.
- Knowledge of quality standards and testing methods, with skills in problem-solving, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related technical field; relevant industry experience in NPD or R&D is preferred.
- Ability to work on-site in Ludhiana, demonstrating reliability, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and compliance.
