Job details:
Market Development Executive/Associate — Metals & Minerals
Location: Mumbai (Occasional travel within India).
Reports to: Desk Head (international head office), with daily coordination across other regional offices.
Employment: Permanent, full-time
About The Company
We are an independent physical commodity supply and intelligence house, with offices across several international locations. We connect verified producers with industrial buyers building supply-chain security. Our India book is already live, with active sales mandates on certified metal and mineral inputs, and an expanding pipeline across additional strategic raw materials.
Role Summary
The Mumbai seat runs India-side market development for the company's metals and minerals mandates: opening buyer and processor conversations, mapping demand, coordinating sampling and shipment with the head office, and building the India intelligence layer. This is a conversion role with a running start: live customers are already on the book from day one, not a cold-territory build.
Key Responsibilities
- Map and build the Indian buyer universe for the products under mandate: smelters, refractories, battery anode, brake linings, and the crucible cluster.
- Open and qualify commercial conversations end-to-end: outreach, spec sharing, sample coordination, price discovery, offer follow-through.
- Coordinate documentation and logistics with the head office for shipments under various payment terms and Incoterms into India's major ports.
- Maintain a live account file and pipeline register that the head office reads weekly.
- Track India price marks, tariff notifications, and trade-regulation updates, and share short intelligence notes.
- Represent the company at India trade forums and industry events.
- Support onboarding of new raw-material mandates as they land in the portfolio, following the same qualify-sample-close motion.
Required Qualifications
- 1–3 years in metals, minerals, commodities, ferro-alloys, refractory or raw-materials commercial, trading, sourcing or category role.
- Fluent business English; working Hindi for procurement floors.
- Demonstrated comfort with Incoterms, international payment terms, and shipment/documentation coordination.
- Willingness to travel 20–30% within India (the buyer map spans multiple regions of the country).
- Comfortable with phone-first, relationship-driven B2B commerce over months, not transactional email.
Preferred / Good To Have
- Prior desk exposure to antimony, natural flake graphite, ferro-alloys, minor metals, refractory minerals, or lead/zinc alloys.
- Existing India buyer contacts in one of the relevant product lines.
- Knowledge of India's foreign trade regulation and import licensing landscape.
- Working Mandarin, Korean, Japanese or Spanish, for direct coordination with other offices in the group.
- Regional Indian languages relevant to the coverage area.
