Role Description This full-time, on-site role is based in New Delhi and focuses on language editing and proofreading for children’s books from Kindergarten to Grade 8. The Language Editor / Proofreader will review manuscripts for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and consistency, ensuring age-appropriate language and clear, engaging text. Daily tasks include refining sentence structure, checking alignment with educational standards, and collaborating with writers, illustrators, and designers to maintain coherence between text and visuals. The role also involves preparing finalized, print-ready content, providing feedback to authors, and ensuring adherence to house style and project timelines. The editor will contribute to continuous improvement of editorial processes and support the team in delivering high-quality educational content.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Writing and Communication, with the ability to adapt tone and style for K–8 readers.
- Candidates should possess solid Proofreading and Text Editing skills to ensure error-free, consistent, and age-appropriate content.
- Candidates should possess experience working with Manuscripts, including reviewing drafts, applying style guidelines, and preparing content for publication.
- Candidates should possess excellent command of English grammar and vocabulary, especially in the context of children’s literature and educational material.
- Candidates should possess strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines on-site.
- A bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Linguistics, Communications, or a related field is preferred; prior experience in children’s publishing or K–8 educational content is an advantage.
- Familiarity with basic editing tools and document management software, and an understanding of curriculum-based content or school-level textbooks, will be beneficial.
