Company Description Saheli HIV/AIDS Karyakarta Sangh (Saheli Sangh) is a community-led collective of women in sex work and their families, working in Pune since 1998. It has grown from a small group of 9 women into a network of over 2,000 members grounded in trust, solidarity, and lived experience. Saheli Sangh focuses on dignity, rights, health, and social protection for women in sex work, while supporting the well-being, education, and future opportunities of their children and families. Its work spans sexual and reproductive health and rights, crisis response and legal awareness, child support and protection, livelihoods and financial inclusion, and rights-based advocacy. The collective collaborates with government systems, civil society organizations, and corporate partners to drive sustainable, community-led change and social justice.
Role Description The Fundraising Consultant will be responsible for designing and implementing fundraising strategies to support Saheli Sangh’s programs and long-term sustainability. This full-time, on-site role based in Pune includes developing and managing donor pipelines, cultivating relationships with individual donors, institutions, and corporate partners, and coordinating fundraising campaigns and events. The consultant will conduct prospect research, prepare concept notes, grant proposals, and reports, and ensure timely communication and stewardship for existing and potential donors. Daily tasks will also involve tracking fundraising performance, maintaining accurate records, supporting advocacy-related resource mobilization, and working closely with program and finance teams to align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities. The role requires sensitivity to the communities Saheli Sangh works with and a commitment to rights, dignity, and inclusion.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising, annual giving, and philanthropic initiatives, with a strong track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
- Ability to design and manage planned giving and other long-term fundraising strategies that support organizational sustainability.
- Strong skills in prospect research and donor mapping, including identifying, profiling, and prioritizing potential donors and partners.
- Excellent written communication skills for drafting proposals, concept notes, reports, and donor outreach materials; strong spoken communication skills for presentations and relationship-building.
- Knowledge of grant cycles, CSR funding, and institutional fundraising, preferably in the social sector or community-based organizations.
- Comfort working closely with marginalized communities, with a commitment to gender equity, rights-based approaches, and non-discriminatory practices.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to handle multiple fundraising initiatives and meet deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, development studies, communications, business, or a related field; advanced qualifications or specialized fundraising training are an advantage.
