Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Fashion Product Design Intern / Junior Merchandiser role based in Hyderabad.
The role involves supporting the research, design, development, and merchandising of fashion and leather goods collections. The selected candidate will work closely on product concepts, trend research, material exploration, technical development, collection planning, and production coordination.
The role offers hands-on exposure to the complete product development process—from initial research and mood boards to technical specifications, material sourcing, vendor coordination, and final collection development.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of leather goods and fashion product collections.
- Conduct in-depth research on global fashion, luxury, lifestyle, and consumer trends.
- Study fashion forecasting platforms, business reports, runway collections, and market insights to identify emerging trends and opportunities.
- Research Indian textiles, traditional crafts, weaving techniques, regional handicrafts, and artisanal practices for product inspiration.
- Develop mood boards, concept presentations, color stories, material directions, and collection themes.
- Translate research and concepts into commercially relevant product ideas.
- Create technical drawings, 3D concepts, product specifications, and design documentation.
- Assist in merchandising, collection planning, range development, and product assortment.
- Research, source, and organize information related to materials, leather, trims, hardware, finishes, and manufacturing techniques.
- Coordinate with vendors, artisans, manufacturers, and production teams when required.
- Assist with sample development, sample tracking, revisions, and product follow-ups.
- Maintain organized design documentation, research archives, product libraries, and material references.
- Support presentations and reports for internal reviews and collection discussions.
- Stay updated with evolving trends across fashion, luxury, accessories, retail, lifestyle, and consumer behaviour.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in Fashion Design, Accessory Design, Leather Design, Product Design, Fashion Merchandising, Textile Design, or a related creative field.
- Strong interest in fashion products, leather goods, accessories, luxury, craftsmanship, and merchandising.
- Good understanding of design fundamentals including colour, materials, form, proportion, and product aesthetics.
- Strong research skills with the ability to identify and interpret fashion, consumer, and market trends.
- Ability to develop mood boards, concept boards, presentations, and visual research.
- Basic knowledge of technical drawings and product specifications is preferred.
- Familiarity with tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, Figma, CLO 3D, or similar design software is an advantage.
- Understanding of materials, trims, manufacturing processes, or leather products will be beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, documentation, and time-management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with designers, vendors, artisans, and internal teams.
- Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced, hands-on, on-site creative environment.
