1. Position Overview
The E-Commerce Merchandiser will be responsible for managing and optimizing the online jewellery assortment, product presentation, pricing, campaigns, inventory visibility and customer journey across the brand’s e-commerce website and marketplaces. The role will work closely with design, catalogue, marketing, warehouse, technology and sales teams to improve online discovery, trust, conversion and revenue.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. E-Commerce Range & Inventory Management
- Plan and manage jewellery collections and online launches aligned with key occasions and seasons such as Akshaya Tritiya, Diwali, Navratri, Valentine’s Day and the wedding season.
- Maintain the right product mix across rings, earrings, necklaces, pendants, bracelets, mangalsutras, bridal jewellery, solitaires and other relevant categories.
- Monitor SKU-level inventory, fast-moving products, ageing stock and out-of-stock items; coordinate with warehouse and merchandising teams to maintain availability of priority SKUs.
- Identify slow-moving products and support liquidation, promotional or repositioning strategies.
- Create and manage price bands such as Under ₹25,000, ₹25,000–₹50,000 and ₹50,000–₹1,00,000, considering customer behaviour and gold/diamond price movements.
- Coordinate pricing updates in line with changes in gold rates, stone prices, offers and commercial guidelines.
B. Online Merchandising & Product Content
- Manage product detail pages (PDPs) to ensure accurate titles, descriptions, specifications, images, videos, size guides and other essential information.
- Ensure product pages clearly communicate metal purity, weight, dimensions, stone details, diamond specifications, certification and applicable policies.
- Coordinate high-quality product imagery including model shots, close-ups, scale/size references, videos and 360-degree views wherever applicable.
- Develop intuitive category and filter structures based on metal, stone, occasion, price, collection, style and customer needs.
- Ensure trust-building information such as BIS hallmarking, applicable diamond certificates, return/exchange policies, EMI options and product guarantees is clearly presented.
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling and bundling, such as matching jewellery, bridal sets, gifting combinations and ‘complete the look’ recommendations.
C. Campaign & Growth Merchandising
- Maintain the e-commerce visual merchandising calendar and regularly refresh homepage banners, collection placements, promotional slots and campaign creatives.
- Coordinate with the marketing and creative teams for festive, wedding, gifting and product-launch campaigns.
- Plan and execute collection-level merchandising for key campaigns and promotional events.
- Coordinate marketplace merchandising, including product content, A+ content, videos, size charts, FAQs/Q&A and promotional visibility on platforms such as Amazon and Flipkart.
- Coordinate WhatsApp commerce and customer-segment campaigns for new launches, cross-selling and repeat purchases.
D. Analytics & Performance Management
- Track key e-commerce metrics including conversion rate, click-through rate, average order value, sell-through, return rate, product views and revenue by category/SKU.
- Analyze customer behaviour and performance by price band, category, collection and product type.
- Identify high-performing and underperforming SKUs and recommend merchandising actions.
- Evaluate the impact of gold-rate changes, promotions, product availability and campaign placements on online sales.
- Use data and customer insights to improve product assortment, content and online conversion.
E. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with photographers, graphic designers, CAD/design teams and catalogue teams for new product launches and content requirements.
- Work closely with digital marketing and performance marketing teams to align landing pages, collections and campaigns.
- Coordinate with warehouse and operations teams to ensure product availability, fulfilment readiness and accurate inventory.
- Work with technology/e-commerce teams to resolve catalogue, pricing, inventory and website-related issues.
- Coordinate with customer service teams to identify recurring product, sizing, content or return-related issues and improve online product information.
3. Required Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of e-commerce merchandising, product catalogue management and online customer journeys.
- Good understanding of jewellery products including gold purity, carat, grams, diamond basics, stone specifications and jewellery categories.
- Knowledge of BIS hallmarking and familiarity with recognized diamond/gemstone certification is preferred.
- Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, filters, sorting and basic data analysis.
- Good analytical and commercial mindset with the ability to interpret e-commerce performance data.
- Strong visual merchandising sense and attention to product presentation, accuracy and detail.
- Basic understanding of SEO, product titles, keywords and e-commerce content optimization.
- Good communication, coordination and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail/e-commerce environment and manage multiple launches and deadlines.
4. Preferred Tools / Platforms
- E-commerce platforms such as Shopify, Magento or similar platforms.
- Marketplace platforms such as Amazon Seller Central and Flipkart Seller Hub.
- Google Analytics / GA4 and other e-commerce analytics tools.
- Inventory/ERP platforms such as Zoho Inventory, Jewelflow, Gempix or equivalent jewellery systems.
- WhatsApp commerce / CRM platforms such as AiSensy or equivalent.

6. Experience & Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, E-Commerce, Retail Management or a related field.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in e-commerce merchandising, online retail, fashion/lifestyle, jewellery or premium retail.
- Experience with jewellery brands, D2C brands, marketplaces or premium retail e-commerce will be preferred.
- Candidates with experience in brands such as Tanishq, CaratLane, BlueStone or similar jewellery/e-commerce businesses may be given preference.

- Comfortable working with large SKU/catalogue data and coordinating across multiple teams.
- Proactive in identifying online sales opportunities, product gaps and customer experience improvements.
8. Compensation
Compensation will be aligned with the candidate’s experience, current compensation and internal salary structure. Relevant jewellery e-commerce experience may be considered for a premium package.
9. Role Success Definition
Success in this role will be measured by the ability to keep the online jewellery catalogue accurate and attractive, maintain strong product availability, improve customer discovery and trust, and consistently contribute to higher conversion, sell-through and e-commerce revenue.
