Role OverviewWe are seeking an analytical and execution-oriented ERM Lead / Enterprise Risk Management Officer to support risk governance from our Bangalore headquarters.
This role will be responsible for implementing and operating the Group ERM framework established by Japan Headquarters, ensuring that risk management policies, controls, and reporting standards are effectively embedded within local operations.
The ERM Lead will act as a key liaison between local business teams and Group ERM in Japan, ensuring timely risk identification, monitoring, escalation, and reporting across critical risk domains including credit portfolio risk, asset recovery risk, country risk, operational risk, regulatory risk, liquidity risk, and strategic risk.
Key ResponsibilitiesGroup ERM Framework Implementation- Implement and maintain the Group ERM framework, policies, risk taxonomy, and governance standards established by Japan Headquarters
- Ensure local operations remain aligned with Group risk appetite, control standards, and reporting requirements
- Support localization of risk controls where required by jurisdiction-specific regulatory or operational requirements
- Maintain local risk registers and ensure material risks are appropriately escalated to Group ERM in Japan
Risk Identification & Assessment- Conduct periodic risk assessments across local operations, products, and business functions
- Identify emerging risks associated with new markets, products, partnerships, and business model changes
- Support stress testing, scenario analysis, and risk impact assessments
- Work with country leadership and functional teams to define mitigation actions
Asset Recovery Risk- Monitor asset recovery performance, including repossession success rates, recovery turnaround time, recovery costs, liquidation outcomes, and loss severity
- Assess operational bottlenecks and control weaknesses in repossession, recovery, and liquidation processes
- Track recovery-related incidents, process gaps, and remediation progress
- Recommend strategies to improve recovery efficiency and reduce credit loss exposure
Country Risk- Assess country-specific risks across operating and target markets, including regulatory changes, foreign exchange volatility, macroeconomic instability, political developments, and sovereign risk
- Maintain country risk monitoring updates for relevant markets
- Support market entry, expansion, and strategic decision-making through risk-based analysis
- Escalate material country risk developments to Group ERM in Japan
Operational & Control Risk- Evaluate internal controls and operational processes to identify control gaps and key vulnerabilities
- Monitor operational incidents, policy breaches, process failures, and remediation actions
- Partner with Operations, Finance, Technology, Internal Audit, and Compliance teams to improve control effectiveness
- Support root cause analysis and preventive control design
- documenting control structure with SOX standards
Regulatory & Compliance Risk- Track regulatory developments across relevant jurisdictions
- Support compliance risk assessments related to lending, consumer protection, AML/CFT, data privacy, licensing, and governance
- Assist in maintaining group-wide policy compliance and regulatory readiness
- Escalate regulatory or compliance matters that may have Group-level implications
Risk Monitoring & Reporting- Define, maintain, and monitor key risk indicators, risk limits, thresholds, and escalation triggers in line with Group ERM requirements
- Prepare periodic risk reports, dashboards, and escalation materials for submission to Group ERM in Japan
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of KRIs, risk incidents, policy breaches, control gaps, and remediation progress
- Institutionalize a consistent risk reporting cadence across relevant local teams
Governance & Stakeholder Coordination- Act as the primary coordination point between local management and Group ERM in Japan
- Support Risk Management Committee discussions by providing local risk insights, dashboards, and action status updates
- Track committee action items, mitigation plans, and remediation initiatives to closure
- Promote risk awareness and risk-based decision-making across local operations
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Risk Management, Business, or related field
- 3–5 years of experience in enterprise risk, financial risk, credit risk, internal audit, compliance, or risk consulting
- Ability to translate Group-level policies into practical local operating processes
- Strong analytical, documentation, and reporting skills
- Advanced Excel or spreadsheet modeling skills
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Preferred Qualifications- Professional certifications such as FRM, CFA, CPA, ACCA, CIA, or equivalent
- Experience with emerging market financial services
- Experience in multi-country operations or group governance
- Familiarity with IPO readiness, internal control enhancement, or listed-company governance
- Experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Amazon QuickSight, or equivalent
- Experience working with Japan-headquartered organizations or cross-border reporting structures
- Experience in financial services, lending, NBFC, fintech, leasing, vehicle finance, or banking
- Strong understanding of portfolio risk analytics, operational controls, and ERM methodologies

- Remediation plans tracked and closed in coordination with local management and Group ERM
