Role Description The Electric and Battery Management Engineer will oversee the design, development, and optimization of the electrical systems and battery packs for Hoopoe’s youth-focused e-bikes. This full-time role is on-site in Belagavi and involves working closely with product design, mechanical engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient power systems. Daily responsibilities include designing and testing battery management systems (BMS), selecting and validating battery cells and electrical components, and troubleshooting electrical and power-related issues in prototypes and production units. The engineer will develop testing protocols, perform performance and safety evaluations, and contribute to documentation and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. The role also includes collaborating on continuous improvement initiatives, supporting production ramp-up, and assisting with quality control for electrical and battery-related aspects.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in electrical or electronics engineering, with experience in battery systems and power electronics for electric vehicles or similar products.
- Hands-on expertise in designing, integrating, and testing battery packs and Battery Management Systems (BMS), including safety, thermal management, and lifecycle considerations.
- Ability to read and create electrical schematics, select appropriate components, and use diagnostic tools for troubleshooting and validation.
- Familiarity with relevant safety standards, compliance requirements, and best practices for lithium-based batteries and low-voltage electric mobility solutions.
- Comfort with lab and workshop environments, including building prototypes, conducting tests, and documenting findings in a clear and structured manner.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related field.
- Experience in e-bike, EV, or consumer hardware development is an advantage; prior work with youth products or safety-critical systems is a plus.
