HummingBird is hiring on behalf of its Fortune 500 client for an experienced Recruiting Operations Director to lead and transform recruiting operations in Mumbai.
About the Role
We are looking for an accomplished Recruiting Operations Director to lead the strategy, governance, processes, technology, analytics, and operational excellence of the organization's Talent Acquisition function.
The role will be responsible for creating a scalable, standardized, technology-enabled recruiting operating model that supports high-volume, specialized, and leadership hiring across the organization.
The Director will partner closely with CHRO, Talent Acquisition leadership, HRBPs, business leaders, Finance, Procurement, Technology, and global stakeholders to improve recruiting efficiency, candidate experience, quality of hire, and business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Recruiting Operations Strategy
- Develop and execute a global or regional Recruiting Operations strategy aligned with enterprise Talent Acquisition objectives.
- Build scalable operating models to support high-volume, specialized, executive, and geographically distributed hiring.
- Standardize recruiting processes, workflows, policies, and governance across business units.
- Establish clear operating rhythms, service standards, KPIs, and performance-management frameworks.
- Continuously evaluate and optimize the recruiting operating model based on business needs.
Process Excellence & Transformation
- Lead end-to-end recruiting process optimization from requisition creation through onboarding.
- Identify process bottlenecks and implement improvements to increase recruiter productivity and hiring-manager effectiveness.
- Establish standardized workflows, SLAs, quality controls, and operational governance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies where applicable.
- Lead large-scale recruiting transformation and change-management programs.
Recruiting Technology & AI
- Own the strategic roadmap for Recruitment Technology, AI, automation, and talent intelligence.
- Optimize the organization's ATS, CRM, scheduling, assessment, sourcing, and recruitment analytics ecosystem.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive recruiting processes.
- Evaluate and implement emerging AI-enabled recruitment technologies.
- Partner with Technology and HR teams on system integrations, data quality, security, and governance.
- Establish responsible and compliant use of AI across recruiting workflows.
Talent Acquisition Analytics
- Build a comprehensive Recruiting Analytics and Workforce Intelligence framework.
- Establish dashboards and reporting for:
- Time-to-fill

- Cost-per-hire
- Quality-of-hire
- Offer acceptance rate
- Source effectiveness
- Recruiter productivity

Workforce Planning & Capacity Management
- Partner with Talent Acquisition and business leaders to forecast hiring demand and recruiting capacity.
- Develop recruiter capacity models and resource allocation strategies.
- Optimize internal recruiting resources, external agencies, RPO partners, and sourcing teams.
- Align recruiting capacity with seasonal, project-based, and strategic workforce requirements.
Vendor & Partner Management
- Lead relationships with RPO providers, recruitment agencies, technology vendors, assessment providers, and other talent partners.
- Establish vendor governance, SLAs, KPIs, commercial frameworks, and performance scorecards.
- Drive vendor rationalization and strategic sourcing where appropriate.
- Monitor external recruiting spend and identify opportunities for optimization.
Candidate & Hiring Manager Experience
- Establish a consistent and differentiated candidate experience across the recruitment lifecycle.
- Improve communication, scheduling, interview, assessment, offer, and onboarding processes.
- Partner with business leaders to improve hiring-manager experience and accountability.
- Establish mechanisms to collect and act on candidate and stakeholder feedback.
Governance, Compliance & Risk
- Establish recruiting governance frameworks aligned with corporate policies and applicable regulations.
- Ensure appropriate controls around candidate data, privacy, documentation, and recruitment processes.
- Partner with Legal, Compliance, HR, and Information Security teams on recruiting-related risk management.
- Maintain audit readiness and data integrity across recruiting systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, Technology, or a related field.
- MBA / Master's degree preferred.
- 15–20 years of progressive experience in Recruiting Operations, Talent Acquisition Operations, HR Operations, or related leadership roles.
- Proven experience leading large-scale recruiting operations within a Fortune 500, global MNC, or complex enterprise environment.
- Strong experience designing and implementing enterprise recruiting operating models.
- Demonstrated experience leading recruitment transformation and process optimization initiatives.
- Strong understanding of ATS, CRM, recruitment analytics, automation, and emerging AI technologies.
- Experience managing large teams and cross-functional programs.
- Excellent executive communication and stakeholder-management skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting global or multi-country Talent Acquisition organizations.
- Experience with enterprise ATS platforms such as Workday, SuccessFactors, Oracle, or similar systems.
- Exposure to RPO, MSP, Direct Sourcing, Total Talent, and Recruitment Process Transformation.
- Experience implementing AI-enabled recruitment and talent intelligence solutions.
- Strong experience with recruiting analytics and BI platforms.
- Experience working with global technology, professional services, financial services, healthcare, or other complex enterprise organizations.
