Job Description Summary
The Design Technician is responsible for generating various types of engineering drawings—including top views, side views, layouts, installation/construction details, and wiring schematics—with oversight from Designers. These drawings range from initial concepts to as-built construction drawings and may be required during bidding, pre-bidding, project realization stages, or for the Design & Consulting drawings library.
The Design Technician strictly follows internal drawing procedures, libraries, and quality standards, utilizing a range of internal drawing tools while proactively proposing improvements.
Note: Oversight means the Designer sets initial parameters and requirements for the drawings and periodically checks in on progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders.
- Accurately estimate task completion times and manage workload efficiently.
- With Designer oversight, create installation detail drawings of ADB Safegate products tailored to specific project requirements.
- Prepare typical installation detail drawings for the department’s library or for publication on the ADB Safegate website.
- Produce airfield layout drawings for lighting, signs, marking, ducts, pits, and cabling.
- Create AVDGS (Advanced Visual Docking Guidance System) top, side, and front view drawings.
- Develop electrical wiring schematics for VDGS installations, airfield substations, and control/monitoring systems.
- Draft structural and fit-out drawings for airside manholes, duct banks, and pits.
- Generate airside layout drawings for integration into ADB Safegate Airside systems (e.g., Apron Management, ALCMS, ICWP).
- Propose improvements to internal drawing procedures, standards, libraries, and tools.
- Export and cleanse data from drawings to provide Designers with cable and duct lengths, and item quantities per type/model.
- Export and import ILCMS segmentation data to/from drawings.
- Adhere to Autodesk Vault procedures, ensuring all files are correctly stored and set up.
- Prepare hardcopies of project drawings, plotted and organized in A4 binders.
Required Know-How & Qualifications
- CAD Professional certification, degree in architecture, or similar qualifications.
- Basic understanding of project processes.
- Knowledge of ADB Safegate’s product portfolio (products, systems, and services).
- Advanced proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD.
- Intermediate proficiency in Autodesk Vault.
- Beginner proficiency in Autodesk Revit.
- Intermediate skills in MS Office and MS Teams.
- Intermediate knowledge of airfield marking, lighting, signage, heliport lighting, and VDGS.
- Basic knowledge of international and local aviation regulations (including ICAO standards and recommended practices).
- Team player with strong communication skills.
