Role Description The Customer Service & Operations Executive (NVOCC) will manage day-to-day export and import operations, including booking coordination, documentation, and shipment follow-up with customers, agents, and carriers. This full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai involves handling customer inquiries, providing shipment status updates, resolving service issues, and ensuring adherence to agreed transit times and service commitments. The executive will prepare and verify BL instructions, invoices, and other shipping documents, coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders for smooth vessel planning and container movements, and maintain accurate records in operational systems. In addition, the role includes monitoring freight rates and schedules, supporting the sales team with operational inputs, and contributing to process improvements for enhanced customer experience and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to handle client queries professionally and maintain positive relationships.
- Operational knowledge of NVOCC processes, ocean freight, container logistics, and port/ICD procedures, preferably within international trade lanes.
- Proficiency in documentation and coordination, including BL preparation, invoicing, and shipment tracking using relevant logistics and ERP systems.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and capability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of freight pricing, schedules, and carrier coordination, with the ability to support rate and service discussions.
- Good analytical and numerical skills, with competence in MS Office (especially Excel and Outlook) and general computer applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field; relevant certifications in shipping and logistics are an advantage.
- Previous experience in NVOCC, freight forwarding, or shipping operations is highly desirable; fresh graduates with strong aptitude may also be considered.
