Job Title: Research & Content Associate
Location: Kolkata (In-office), Park Street Area
Working days: Monday to Friday
Package: 3.5 to 4.10 LPA
Experience preferred: 6 months to 1 year
Joining: November 2026
About the Role
Humanize is looking for a curious and organised Research & Content Associate who enjoys exploring unfamiliar subjects, finding credible information, and turning it into detailed, useful research. The role will involve research across client industries, content, opportunities, new initiatives, surveys, and internal projects, along with supporting content development and client-related operational work.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Research & Exploration
Research will form a significant part of the role and may span different industries, subjects, people, organisations and markets.
Responsibilities may include:
- Conducting in-depth research on subjects relevant to Humanize, our clients and their industries.
- Exploring unfamiliar industries, sectors, markets, organisations, people and emerging areas.
- Understanding new topics before the team begins developing content, positioning or a larger initiative around them.
- Reading publications, reports, articles, research papers, interviews, newsletters and other relevant material.
- Finding credible sources and cross-verifying important information before it is used.
- Identifying useful information, references, examples, and developments from a large amount of material.
- Researching topics related to new initiatives or expansion areas being explored internally at Humanize.
The person should be comfortable starting with a broad or unfamiliar question and gradually building a clear understanding of the subject.
2. Research Synthesis & Documentation
Finding information is only one part of the role. An equally important responsibility will be making that information useful to someone else.
This will include:
- Going through large amounts of information and identifying what is relevant to the requirement.
- Organising research into clear themes, sections or categories.
- Preparing concise research documents, briefing notes, source documents and internal reference material.
- Creating structured documents that allow the team or client to understand a subject quickly.
- Maintaining research folders, trackers and databases where information needs to be used over time.
- Presenting findings in the format most useful for the requirement, whether that is a short brief, detailed research document, spreadsheet, opportunity tracker, or source bank.
The objective is not necessarily to interpret every piece of research or develop a strategic recommendation. The person should first be excellent at making reliable information accessible, structured, and usable.
3. Content Research & Development
Content will continue to be an important part of the role, particularly where strong research is required to develop meaningful content.
Responsibilities may include:
- Building background research and source material before content is developed.
- Researching statistics, examples, case studies, industry developments, and references that can strengthen an idea.
- Fact-checking claims and verifying information used in content.
- Following developments within client industries and identifying conversations that may be relevant to their content.
- Identifying interesting themes, questions or developments that could become potential content ideas.
- Supporting the content team with research briefs and organised source material.
- Helping develop or refine content where required based on the research conducted.
The person should gradually develop enough familiarity with each client's work and industry to understand what information is likely to be useful and what can be left out.
4. Opportunities, Platforms & Industry Research
The role will also involve researching opportunities that could be relevant to the founders, CEOs and organisations Humanize works with.
This may include:
- Researching conferences, summits, roundtables, forums and other relevant industry events.
- Finding speaking opportunities, panels, fireside chats and other platforms.
- Researching relevant podcasts, publications, awards, communities and media opportunities.
- Understanding whether an opportunity genuinely aligns with a client's expertise, audience and positioning.
- Maintaining structured opportunity trackers and periodically updating them.
- Gathering the information required for applications, pitches or submissions.
- Supporting the team in preparing applications and related material where required.
The expectation is to go beyond simply producing long lists and identify opportunities that are actually relevant to the person or organisation being researched for.
5. Client & Operational Support
Because the role will work closely with ongoing client projects, the person should also be comfortable with operational requirements when needed.
This could include:
- Supporting client-related coordination, documentation and follow-ups.
- Maintaining trackers, research repositories, content documents and other working material.
- Helping organise information received from clients so that it can be easily used by the wider team.
- Supporting applications, submissions, outreach or other client initiatives.
- Assisting with ad hoc internal or client-related tasks as they arise.
- Working closely with different members of the team rather than operating as an isolated research function.
The role will therefore require flexibility. Some assignments will be clearly defined research projects, while others may emerge from an immediate requirement within a client project.
Skills and Qualities look for:
- Strong online and desk research skills.
- Good written communication and summarisation skills.
- Ability to work with large amounts of information without losing important details.
- Comfort working with Google Docs, Sheets, and presentation tools.
- Ability to create and maintain structured trackers and research repositories.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted research tools while being able to independently verify information.
- Understanding of how to search beyond basic Google results and identify credible sources.
- Basic understanding of content and digital platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, Substack, and YouTube.
- Familiarity with survey tools such as Google Forms, Typeform, or similar platforms would be useful.
- Familiarity with databases, research platforms, publications, or media-monitoring tools would be an advantage.
Experience of 6 months to 1 year across research, content, communications, journalism, consulting, market research, public relations or similar environments could be relevant.
