About pulse.
pulse. is the commercial decisioning platform we are building for hotels.
Hotels have more data than ever: bookings, cancellations, rates, demand, market intelligence and digital acquisition. The challenge is turning that data into reliable commercial intelligence.
pulse. brings these signals together to help hotel teams understand what is happening, why it is happening, and what to do next.
The product is already being used in multi-brand pilots, and we're now building the engineering team to take pulse. into more markets.
We're looking for a Backend Developer to help build the data and application layer behind the platform.
The role
This is a backend role with a strong focus on data.
You'll work primarily with Python and PostgreSQL, building the systems that ingest, model, reconcile and serve the data behind pulse.
Hotel data is messy. A booking can be created today, cancelled three days later and changed again by the source system. APIs change. Records arrive twice. The system needs to handle this without quietly changing the truth.
You'll work across data models, APIs, ingestion pipelines, background processing and data quality.
You'll also work closely with our product and commercial teams, understanding how the systems you build ultimately affect decisions made by hotel teams.
What you'll do
• Build and maintain backend services using Python, FastAPI and PostgreSQL
• Design data models that handle late, duplicate and restated data
• Build integrations with PMS, rate intelligence, advertising and analytics platforms
• Develop reliable ingestion and processing pipelines
• Work with Celery and Redis for background processing
• Build APIs and services that power pulse.'s commercial decisioning
• Implement data validation, reconciliation and quality checks
• Write tests and maintain a strong engineering standard
• Investigate production issues, fix root causes and improve the system
Who you are
You care about getting the fundamentals right.
When you see a new data source, you think about what a record represents, how it should be identified, what happens when it arrives twice, and what happens when the source changes it later.
You're comfortable with databases and backend systems. You want to understand why something broke rather than simply patching it.
You also enjoy working in a small team where you can contribute directly to product and technical decisions.
What you bring
• 2+ years of experience building production backend systems
• Strong Python experience
• Strong PostgreSQL and relational data modelling skills
• Experience building APIs, preferably with FastAPI
• Experience with asynchronous processing or task queues such as Celery
• Experience integrating third-party APIs
• Good understanding of testing, debugging and production software development
• A practical approach to engineering and willingness to take ownership
Nice to have
• Hospitality technology or hotel data experience
• Experience with reservation, rate, distribution or revenue management systems
• Experience with Google Ads, Meta, GA4 or similar platforms
• Experience with ETL, data pipelines or analytics systems
• SQLAlchemy or Alembic experience
Our core stack
Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy, Celery.
What you'll get
• The opportunity to work on a product being built from the ground up
• Ownership of real backend systems, not just individual tickets
• Direct exposure to product, engineering and commercial decisions
• Real hotel data and real-world problems to solve
• A small team where your work has visible impact
• The opportunity to grow with pulse. as we expand internationally
A quick note before you apply
We're more interested in how you think than how many technologies you've listed on your CV.
Tell us about one backend or data problem you've solved that wasn't straightforward.
What was the problem? What did you build? What went wrong? What did you learn?
Two or three paragraphs is enough. We'd rather understand how you approach real problems than read a generic cover letter.
APPLY
Write to us at hello@dhihospitality.com with your experience and a short example of a backend or data problem you've solved.
If you have public code that shows how you build things, feel free to share that too.
