About the Role
GEC is a global advisory firm comprised of professionals specializing in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Compliance, Information Technology, and Law. Our team includes Chartered Accountants, MBAs, Engineers, and Attorneys with a wealth of industry experience, enabling us to deliver strategic advisory and business planning solutions. Focusing on Canada, the USA, the UK, and India, we offer comprehensive accounting services that enhance operational efficiency, optimize financial performance, and support the long-term growth of your business. We are committed to delivering time- and cost-effective solutions, collaborating closely with clients to meet their bookkeeping, accounting, tax, and business management needs.
We are looking for an experienced Accounts Executive to join our growing international accounting team and work full-time, on-site, on the UK client's bookkeeping, reconciliations, and reporting requirements. This role involves direct exposure to UK-specific compliance (VAT, month-end close), and regular communication with the UK team — making strong spoken and written English essential to the role, alongside solid bookkeeping fundamentals.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain day-to-day bookkeeping for the UK client, including purchase ledger (AP), sales ledger (AR), and general ledger entries
• Perform bank reconciliations across multiple accounts on a timely basis
• Process supplier invoices, employee expenses, and payment runs accurately and within agreed turnaround times
• Support month-end close activities, including accruals, prepayments, and journal entries
• Assist in preparation of UK VAT returns and related working papers
• Prepare and maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules
• Reconcile intercompany and supplier/customer accounts, and follow up on outstanding items
• Prepare basic management reports and schedules as required by the reporting team
• Communicate directly and professionally with the UK client/team via email and calls for queries, clarifications, and status updates
• Maintain organised, audit-ready documentation and working papers in line with firm SOPs
• Flag discrepancies, unusual transactions, or potential issues promptly to the Team Lead
Required Skills & Experience
• 3–5 years of hands-on bookkeeping experience, ideally including exposure to UK or other international clients
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English — this is a client-facing role requiring direct, confident interaction with UK-based staff
• Strong working proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, basic formulas) and MS Word
• Working knowledge of accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or similar cloud accounting platforms (UK bookkeeping software experience preferred)
• Sound understanding of core bookkeeping concepts: double-entry, reconciliations, accruals/prepayments, and basic UK VAT concepts
• High attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage deadlines across multiple clients/tasks
• Willingness to work on-site full-time from our Delhi office
• Comfortable working UK-aligned hours for part of the day where required for client calls/handover (to be discussed at interview)
Educational Qualification
• B.Com / M.Com / CA-Inter / CMA-Inter or equivalent; candidates with a professional accounting course background will be preferred
What We Offer
• Direct, hands-on exposure to UK accounting practices and international client work
• A structured, growing international accounting practice with clear scope for growth into senior/review roles
• Supportive team environment with training on UK-specific processes and tools
• Competitive compensation, in line with experience and market standards
