Role Description: The Accountant role at Paw & Kin is a full-time, on-site position based in Kochi. The Accountant will manage day-to-day financial operations, including recording transactions, maintaining general ledgers, and preparing periodic financial statements. Responsibilities include processing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank and cash accounts, monitoring expense records, and supporting budgeting and cost tracking. The role also involves assisting with tax compliance, supporting internal controls, and preparing reports for management decision-making. The Accountant will collaborate with operations and management teams to ensure accurate, timely financial information that supports a high-quality pet care experience.
Your responsibilities would include, but not limited to:
- Accounting of sales and purchases on Vyapar software
- Verification of Daily Sales Report
- Recording bank entries and reconciling them with bank statements daily
- A monthly reconciliation of GSTR-2B with books
- A vendor payment schedule before each of the two monthly payment cycles including reconciliation with vendors statement of account
- A pending customer list, to help with collections and follow up of collection before 10th of the following month
- Filing of GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B
- A monthly MIS report (Profit & Loss summary), shared by the 15th of the following month for discussion with the management
- Finalise books for annual auditing and draw a yearly profit and loss summary for discussion with the management
Qualifications:
- Candidates should possess strong core accounting skills, including general ledger management, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Candidates should possess skills in accounts payable and accounts receivable processing, invoice management, and cash handling.
- Candidates should possess skills in financial analysis, budgeting, cost tracking, and variance reporting to support data-driven decisions.
- Candidates should possess proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheets, and the ability to maintain organized, accurate digital records.
- Candidates should possess knowledge of basic taxation concepts, compliance requirements, and familiarity with local statutory regulations.
- Candidates should possess strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and the ability to meet deadlines in a busy operational environment.
- Candidates should possess effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and explain financial information clearly.
- Relevant qualifications such as a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce, or equivalent professional certification, are preferred; prior experience in a service or retail environment is an added advantage.
