Role Description
GSRA & Associates is looking for a full-time Accountant to join its team at Defence Colony, New Delhi.
The Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting, bookkeeping, reconciliations, statutory compliance support, and financial reporting for the firm’s clients. The role requires strong attention to detail, practical knowledge of Indian accounting and taxation requirements, and the ability to manage multiple client assignments within agreed timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain books of accounts for multiple clients in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Record and review sales, purchase, receipt, payment, journal, and other accounting entries.
- Perform bank, vendor, customer, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Carry out ledger scrutiny and identify accounting discrepancies or incomplete documentation.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable records.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual closing of accounts.
- Prepare trial balances, profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash-flow reports, and management information reports.
- Support GST compliance, including data preparation and reconciliation for GST returns.
- Assist with TDS calculations, return preparation, challan reconciliation, and related compliance.
- Coordinate with clients for invoices, bank statements, supporting documents, and accounting clarifications.
- Assist the audit and taxation teams by preparing schedules, reconciliations, confirmations, and supporting documentation.
- Maintain organised accounting records and ensure the timely completion of assigned client work.
- Communicate accounting observations and pending requirements clearly to clients and internal team members.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- One to three years of relevant accounting experience, preferably with a Chartered Accountancy firm, accounting firm, or professional services organisation.
- CA Intermediate, semi-qualified CA, or M.Com qualification would be an advantage but is not mandatory.
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping, accounting principles, ledger management, and financial statement preparation.
- Practical knowledge of GST, TDS, and basic income-tax compliance.
- Experience in bank reconciliation, vendor reconciliation, customer reconciliation, and ledger scrutiny.
- Working knowledge of Tally Prime is essential.
- Familiarity with Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or other cloud-based accounting platforms would be an advantage.
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and data reconciliation.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet statutory and internal deadlines.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, professional integrity, and willingness to learn.
