Job description
The DGM – Greenfield Project Execution will take total on-ground ownership of setting up a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for pharmaceutical excipients and specialty bio-chemicals. Operating initially as a highly technical, agile, one-man army, this executive will translate the company’s business vision into reality. This role is responsible for driving the project from final design validation and vendor onboarding through to ground-breaking, physical construction, commissioning, and cGMP readiness.
Key Responsibilities
1. On-Ground Project Execution & Site Management
- Act as the single point of contact (SPOC) for the entire project life cycle on-site.
- Create, update, and rigorously track the master project schedule (critical path, milestones, and dependencies) using MS Project or Primavera.
- Manage daily construction, mechanical, electrical, and piping (MEP) activities to ensure zero idle time.
- Maintain a strict Zero Lost Time Injury (LTI) environment by enforcing safety protocols across all contractual laborers.
2. Vendor Selection & Split-Package Management
- Formulate and issue detailed Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for split packages (Civil, Process Piping, Electrical/HVAC, and Instrumentation) to optimise budgets
- Run technical and commercial comparative evaluations of vendors, presenting the top choices directly to the Executive Chairman.
- Oversee on-site contractors, resolve design clashes instantly, and prevent contract variations or cost escalations.
3. Statutory Approvals & Liaisoning
- Personally drive and secure all necessary regulatory clearances from state authorities (e.g., SPCB, Industrial Development Corporations like MIDC/GIDC, Factory Inspectorate, and Electricity Boards).
- Secure the Consent to Establish (CTE) and subsequent Consent to Operate (CTO) with zero compliance delays.
- Coordinate with local utility bodies to ensure timely allocation of high-tension power, industrial water lines, and fuel access.
4. cGMP Engineering & Equipment Procurement
- Validate the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) to ensure strict adherence to cGMP, US FDA, and EXCiPACT guidelines.
- Enforce critical plant design features: uni-directional material/personnel flow, strict cleanroom classifications, pressure differentials, and HVAC/Purified Water loop integrity.
- Manage the procurement, inspection, and timely delivery of long-lead process equipment (e.g., glass-lined reactors, centrifuges, high-purity water systems).
5. Commissioning & Regulatory Validation
- Direct all Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and dry/wet trial runs for process machinery and utilities.
- Personally compile, review, and own the execution of validation protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ) for cleanrooms, water systems, and critical equipment.
- Ensure a seamless, documented handover of the fully operational, audit-ready asset to the commercial manufacturing team.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
- Education: B.Tech / B.E. in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from a reputed institute.
- Experience: 9–15 years of strong, hands-on experience in project execution within the Pharma (API/Excipients) or Specialty Chemicals sectors. Must have successfully executed at least one greenfield project from ground-breaking to commissioning.
- Core Competencies:
- Exceptional grit and a "doer" mindset—comfortable managing site layouts and government offices single-handedly.
- Deep technical knowledge of cGMP standards, cleanroom engineering, and SS316L orbital welding loop systems.
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills to maximize a ₹50 Crore budget without compromising quality.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in MS Project / Primavera, and ability to read/review drawings in AutoCAD or Navisworks.
- Advance capability in use of AI
What We Offer
- Direct Impact: A rare opportunity to report directly to the Executive Chairman, eliminating corporate red tape and ensuring rapid decision-making.
- Compensation: Competitive fixed CTC (commensurate with experience).
- Project Milestone Bonus: A lucrative milestone-linked retention bonus upon successful plant commissioning.
