Summary
As a Custom Software Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for defining and leading the technical architecture for enterprise-grade PTC Windchill PLM integration solutions. You will oversee the end-to-end integration strategy across PLM ecosystems, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performance integrations that align with business objectives and industry best practices.
You will provide technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle—from architecture and solution design to implementation, deployment, and production support. The role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, solution architects, middleware teams, ERP teams, and customer IT organizations to deliver robust integration solutions while mentoring development teams and driving engineering excellence.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Define the overall Windchill integration architecture for enterprise PLM programs.
- Design and establish integration patterns including:
- Real-time vs. Batch integrations
- Event-driven vs. Lifecycle-driven publishing
- API-based vs. Middleware-based integrations
- Ensure all integrations are PTC-compliant, scalable, secure, and Windchill+ ready for both upstream and downstream systems.
- Architect integrations between Windchill and enterprise applications including:
- ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Infor, JD Edwards)
- MES and Manufacturing Execution Systems
- External business applications
- Reporting and analytics platforms
- Design enterprise integration solutions using:
- REST APIs
- OData Services
- Info*Engine
- Enterprise Systems Integration (ESI)
- Middleware platforms
- Review and approve integration architecture, technical specifications, interface mappings, and solution designs.
- Own object-level integration mapping for:
- Parts
- Engineering BOM (EBOM)
- Manufacturing BOM (MBOM)
- Documents
- Visualizations
- Change Objects
- Promotions
- Lifecycle Events
- Ensure alignment with core PLM business processes including:
- Release to Manufacturing
- Engineering Change Management
- EBOM to MBOM Publishing
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to:
- Integration Consultants
- Windchill Developers
- Middleware Development Teams
- Support System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), production deployment, cutover activities, and hypercare support.
- Troubleshoot complex cross-system integration issues in production environments.
- Lead customer workshops, architecture discussions, and technical design sessions.
- Evaluate integration approaches and communicate trade-offs, risks, scalability considerations, and performance impacts.
- Establish engineering standards, best practices, and governance for enterprise integration solutions.
- Ensure solution quality, reliability, maintainability, and long-term scalability across PLM integrations.
Required Technical Expertise
- Deep expertise in PTC Windchill PLM architecture and integration.
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Windchill PDMLink (Mandatory)
- Enterprise Systems Integration (ESI)
- Change Management
- MPMLink (preferred)
- Strong understanding of Windchill data model, object relationships, and lifecycle management.
- Proven experience designing enterprise integrations using:
- REST APIs
- OData Services
- Info*Engine
- ESI
- Middleware platforms
- Strong knowledge of Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience designing high-volume, secure, scalable, and fault-tolerant enterprise integrations.
- Extensive experience integrating Windchill with ERP, MES, and enterprise manufacturing systems.
- Strong understanding of PLM business processes and engineering data management.
- Experience with Automotive, Manufacturing, or Medical Devices industries is highly preferred.
Preferred Experience
- 7.5–12 years of overall PLM experience.
- Minimum 7.5 years of hands-on experience in PTC Windchill.
- Majority of experience focused on enterprise integration architecture and implementation.
- Experience leading medium to large integration programs.
- Experience working in global delivery and client-facing environments.
