About the Role
The Embedded Coding Engineer will own the embedded software layer that supports space-grade sensors used in space and defence tech missions. The role requires translating hardware behavior into reliable code, testing it against mission constraints, and supporting integration so the system performs consistently in real-world conditions. Success in this role means the engineer can work independently, keep the codebase stable, and help turn sensor capability into usable system output. The position is remote and open across India, with an independent contractual arrangement. It is best suited to someone with basic but solid embedded fundamentals, comfort working with technical hardware, and the discipline to deliver dependable engineering outcomes with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain embedded code that supports sensor functionality in mission-focused environments, with reliability and traceability as primary outcomes.
- Work with hardware and systems teams to align firmware behavior with sensor performance requirements, reducing integration risk and rework.
- Validate embedded logic through testing and debugging, so mission use cases are supported by stable system behavior and predictable outputs.
- Troubleshoot issues across sensor, firmware, and integration layers, resolving blockers quickly to keep development and verification moving.
- Document code behavior, assumptions, and technical changes clearly, so the system remains maintainable and audit-friendly for future work.
- Own assigned work with limited supervision under an independent contractual model, meeting commitments in a remote operating setup.
- Support continuous improvement of embedded implementation practices, raising code quality and reducing defects in critical applications.
Essential Skills & Technologies
- Strong fundamentals in embedded coding and microcontroller-based development, with the ability to write practical code for sensor-driven systems.
- Basic understanding of space-grade or defence-grade sensor environments, including the need for reliability, stability, and controlled execution.
- Hands-on debugging and testing ability, with a disciplined approach to identifying issues in firmware, interfaces, and system behavior.
- Familiarity with hardware-software integration concepts, so sensor performance can be translated into dependable embedded outputs.
- Good working knowledge of version control, code hygiene, and technical documentation, supporting structured remote collaboration.
- Ability to work independently under a contractual arrangement, manage tasks responsibly, and deliver output without close day-to-day supervision.
Additional Plus
- Exposure to sensor calibration, telemetry, or mission systems will help the engineer ramp faster in a space and defence context.
- Prior work with reliability-focused embedded systems is a plus, especially where failure tolerance and consistency matter.
- Experience in remote, contractor-style delivery environments will be helpful for this role.
