Role Description The Senior Process Engineer will provide expert process engineering and process safety support across client projects in the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, chemical, oil & gas, and allied sectors. This contract, remote role involves developing and reviewing process flow diagrams, mass and energy balances, equipment and instrument sizing, P&IDs, datasheets, and user requirement specifications. Day-to-day activities include performing process design and control assessments, contributing to pressure relief calculations, supporting HAZOP and LOPA studies, and preparing technical reports and documentation. The Senior Process Engineer will collaborate with internal and client teams to identify hazards, propose mitigations, and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulatory requirements. The role also includes mentoring less experienced engineers and contributing to methodology and best-practice improvements.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Process Engineering and Chemical Engineering, with experience in complex industrial processes.
- Candidates should possess skills in Process Design and Process Control, including developing and optimizing process configurations and control strategies.
- Candidates should possess strong Analytical Skills, with the ability to interpret data, perform calculations, and draw clear engineering conclusions.
- Experience with process safety methodologies (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA), pressure relief design, and applicable standards (API, ASME, ISO) is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with ATEX, hazardous area classification, and explosion protection documentation is an advantage.
- Proficiency in engineering software tools for simulations, calculations, and drafting (e.g., process simulation packages, MS Office, CAD/P&ID tools) is preferred.
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong communication skills, ability to work independently in a remote consulting environment, and proven experience in client-facing roles.
