Role Description The Sofa Designer role is a full-time position based in the Bangalore Urban district, with a hybrid work arrangement that allows some tasks to be completed from home. The sofa designer will conceptualize and design sofa collections, including sketches, digital renderings, material selections, and detailed specifications for production. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with product development and manufacturing teams, refining prototypes, ensuring ergonomics and comfort standards, and aligning designs with brand guidelines and market trends. The role also involves meeting with internal stakeholders to review designs, incorporating feedback, and optimizing designs for cost, durability, and ease of production. The designer will maintain organized design documentation, stay current with furniture design trends, and support marketing with design assets and product information when needed.
Qualifications
- Strong sofa and furniture design skills, including concept development, sketching, and digital visualization.
- Knowledge of upholstery techniques, cushioning, materials, and construction methods used in sofa manufacturing.
- Understanding of ergonomics, comfort standards, and practical usability in residential furniture design.
- Ability to collaborate with production, sourcing, and sales teams, and communicate design intent clearly.
- Attention to detail, strong aesthetic sense, and the ability to balance design innovation with cost and manufacturability.
- Relevant educational background such as a degree or diploma in furniture design, industrial design, interior design, or a related field.
- Previous experience in furniture or sofa design is preferred; portfolio demonstrating completed projects is highly beneficial.
- Comfort working in a hybrid model from Bangalore Urban district, with reliable time management and self-organization.
