About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Cable Tray Layout Engineer to join our team at GE Vernova. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, modeling, and reviewing cable tray layouts for hydro power plant projects. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring the accurate and efficient layout of cable networks, supporting the overall project engineering objectives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical layout design, project management, and the use of CAD software such as E3D, Autodesk Revit, and AutoCAD. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and clients to deliver precise engineering solutions that meet safety, quality, and project specifications. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on large-scale hydro power projects and contribute to sustainable energy development globally.
Qualifications
- Diploma or B.E. in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Proficiency in English communication and comprehension.
- Minimum of 12 to 15 years of relevant experience in cable tray layout engineering and related activities.
- Strong knowledge of CAD software such as E3D, Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and MS Office tools.
- Extensive experience in cable tray support engineering, layout design, and civil structural interfacing.
- Deep understanding of hydro power plant layouts, equipment arrangement, and plant network configurations.
- Proficiency in clash detection, resolution, and site support activities.
- Experience in cable routing, filling studies, and civil foundation requirements.
- Ability to plan, schedule, and estimate project man-hours and resources effectively.
Responsibilities
- Utilize E3D, Autodesk Revit, and AutoCAD software to model hydro power plant cable and cable tray networks.
- Create general arrangement drawings for cable tray layouts, erection, and trench designs.
- Detail pothead yard and switchyard layouts, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
- Review vendor equipment drawings for layout compatibility and interface requirements.
- Conduct design review meetings to ensure alignment with project standards and objectives.
- Generate clash check reports using E3D and resolve any interference issues identified.
- Prepare single line diagrams encompassing power, lighting, UPS, and control systems.
- Develop earthing and lighting layouts in coordination with project requirements.
- Compile bill of materials for cable trays, supports, and related components, and manage through PLM tools.
- Coordinate with other departments to gather inputs, ensure interface compatibility, and maintain records.
- Engage with clients, regional teams, and COEs through meetings and discussions to facilitate project progress.
- Review civil structural drawings and civil construction plans to ensure seamless integration.
- Support site activities, including layout implementation, issue resolution, and safety adherence.
- Define cabling routes, conduct filling studies, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Assist in project planning, scheduling, and resource estimation to meet project deadlines.
