Role Description The Vice Chancellor is the chief executive and academic head of EdTech Skills University – Assam, responsible for providing strategic leadership, academic direction, and institutional governance. This full-time, on-site role based in Tinsukia involves overseeing academic programs, research initiatives, and skill-focused curricula to ensure alignment with industry needs and regulatory standards. The Vice Chancellor will manage faculty and staff development, promote a culture of quality, and ensure effective implementation of policies, processes, and performance metrics. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising administrative operations, monitoring financial and resource management, fostering national and international partnerships, and representing the university to government bodies, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders. The role also requires leading initiatives in innovation, digital transformation, and student success, while upholding high standards of ethics, equity, and inclusivity.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated academic leadership experience, including prior service as Dean, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Director, or equivalent senior role in a university or higher education institution.
- Strong governance, policy formulation, and institutional management skills, with the ability to guide strategic planning and quality assurance processes.
- Proven track record in teaching, research, and academic administration, preferably with exposure to skills-based, technology-enabled, or industry-integrated education.
- Ability to build and maintain partnerships with industry, government, and academic bodies, and to represent the university in external forums.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with a collaborative and transparent leadership style.
- Experience in financial oversight, resource optimization, and infrastructure development in an educational setting.
- Commitment to student-centric practices, inclusive education, ethical conduct, and diversity, with a focus on employability and entrepreneurship.
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) from a recognized university, with a strong academic profile and publications; eligibility as per applicable national and state regulatory norms.
- Familiarity with higher education regulations, accreditation frameworks, and digital transformation in education will be an added advantage.
