Role Description The Transplant Nurse will provide specialized nursing care to patients undergoing organ transplantation, including pre-operative preparation, intra-operative support, and post-operative recovery and follow-up. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, administering medications, assisting with procedures, coordinating with the transplant team, educating patients and families on post-transplant care, and ensuring adherence to infection control and safety standards. The role involves close collaboration with physicians, surgeons, critical care teams, and allied health professionals to support successful transplant outcomes and continuity of care. Documentation of patient assessments, care plans, and clinical interventions in accordance with hospital protocols is required. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Visakhapatnam, with primary on-site responsibilities at the hospital and limited work-from-home tasks where appropriate.
Qualifications
- Strong clinical foundation in Nursing, including patient assessment, care planning, and evidence-based practice.
- Specialized expertise in Transplant care, encompassing pre- and post-transplant management and patient education.
- Solid understanding of Medicine and medical-surgical principles relevant to transplant patients.
- Experience or exposure to Critical Care Medicine, including managing hemodynamically unstable patients and intensive monitoring.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Surgery teams and support perioperative care for transplant procedures.
- Recognized nursing qualification (GNM, B.Sc Nursing, or equivalent) with valid nursing registration as per regulatory requirements.
- Prior experience in transplant units, ICU, or high-dependency units is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with a commitment to patient safety and ethical care.
- Willingness to work in a hybrid model from Visakhapatnam and adapt to demanding clinical schedules.
